Several text boxes on my site overflow on to 2 lines when viewed on Apple computers. They are fine on all my PC friends' computers except for one who has Windows 7 and is using Internet Explorer 9 (beta version) plus he has a very high resolution on his screen.

I am using Georgia mainly and occasionally Arial fonts. Both seem to cause problems.

You can see my test website at www.missetobonsai.org/TEST/index.html

The events page, for example, overflows on "Upcoming Meetings & Events" and "April 21, 2011" . It's very puzzling because other text boxes which are even longer work fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Barbara

This is a BIG problem with any site that I have made using VSD 7.

It also occurs on any older page that I open with VSD7. They all look great on PC but usually have a several text boxes that will not work on a mac! No matter what I do.

At times sometimes it is as little as a two word phrase. Big text box, small text box, type it on a page all by it self, does not matter. I have decided to go back to VSD 6 because I don't have the time to play with it for hours.

Does any one have a solution for this? If you have'nt seen your VSD7 sites on a Mac you should take a look. I really wish they could get this fixed as I sure like the new features in VSD7.

Thanks

I have also found this to be a problem, so I just looked at your site on my Dell, Win7 64 bit laptop. It's not Apple.

If you look at your site on Internet Explorer at 75% magnification instead of 100%, you will see this problem while you are buildng your site and can fix it before you publish.

I have found that clicking the "allow advanced text" box on the properties page of a text box works great.

Learned a lot about this on these forums. Apparently when you "allow advanced text" you make an image out of your text box so it doesn't jump around. (you can actually see this in your images file, if you are inclined to look at files.)

Hope this helps.

Sorry, the hint above doesn't always work!

I was working with text boxes where I had applied shadows. That seemed to make the text stick.

Then today I was working with a normal text box and it overflowed. I tried applying shadows the same color as the background - I really didn't want shadows - and about half of the time it works.

Very squirly!

Still, if you view your site at 75%, it allows you to see the overflowes, move the text boxes around and space them apart so they won't run together. Sometimes, tho, this doesn't look great at 100%.

I have emailed my Apple friends to test my site, which I published last Sat.

If their answers are of worth, I'll let you know.

My brother-in-law says my site looks fine on his lear old Apple desktop.

My cousin says it looks fine on her dell, her Ipad and also her Blackberry - she compared all three.

I have looked at it on my IpodTouch and also my Kindle - it works fine on both - except there is one text wrap on the IpodTouch, there is one 3 word line of text that wraps. It is a heading over a photo, with nothing near it to throw it off, and yet the 3rd word jumps down a line.

There's lots of text realigning in large boxes - most of the time not a problem - but it would be nice if the text stayed the way you typed it in!!

Have either of you tried opening a support ticket? No one seems to be answering this thread except me.

With advanced text checked you have to apply some kind of effect or at least alternate text to get it to work. If the text moves then it's not advanced.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yes I have had a long support ticket going.

Unfortunately no solution. Just advised to play with the text boxes. Which does not always work.

The advanced text does turn it into an image and I have had to do that many times to get the job down the road.

Problem is, that it usually changes the color a bit and it does not mach the rest.

This is a problem with larger colored text.

You really don't want to have to have a bunch of images where there should be text anyways.

I have been having problem with two word navigation links and footer information shifting a lot.

Loads of images on a page and very little text is not good SEO either...

Thanks, Eric. You answered my advanced text question - shadows!!

Did you see my post that my site looked good on a Blackberry and an IpodTouch? From what I have read, mobile devices don't work well with VSD. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other, I'm not into smart phones, but I thought it was interesting.
