Text Format Not Holding - Page 1 -...

Hello, I'm using version 6.0 of VSD. I created a text box in which I typed a text which I now want to change the color and format of. I doubled-clicked on the text box to access the text and then changed the color and format of some sections of the text using the Object button. Everything fine.

But now when I click out of the text box once the job is finished, the text switches back to all white and shows all white as well when simulating a webpage. When I double-click back in the text box, all my changes were recorded. It's just not holding when viewing it in a webpage.

Any idea?

Hi Sebastien,
After you double clicked the text box (changes to red outline), did you drag your cursor over the text to highlight it before you made your changes?
If you've done that and it's still isn't working, maybe you could put up a link to the site in case someone can help you figure it out. If not, you might need to put in a support ticket so one of the CC pros can see what's going on. :)

Yes, I did drag the cursor over just like I would in MS Word. It's all formatted exactly like I want it until I click out of the box. Then it all reverses to neutral. I just don't get it because it worked just fine in my previous VSD version.

Well then, I'm clueless
You might try re-installing VSD.... or go ahead and get a support ticket in.
I'd be curious to know what's going on there - please let us know if you get a solution to this.:)

Have you set up some standard settings for the whole site? If so, it could be that the text defaults to those settings. Just a wild guess as I really don't know VSD that well.

Ok. I solved it. Apparently, it is impossible to copy paste an old text in the box and THEN to change the color. You would have to retype it all in a new box for it hold. Cumbersome... but solved. Thanks anyways.

Not sure I understand, but I can copy/paste existing (old?) text and change the font/color after just fine. It's also possible to change just parts of a paragraph - a sentence or just a word within the text box (color, font, bold, italic), whether it's new or copy/pasted.
Just tried a few things - what I couldn't do was copy/paste one text box into another text box, but I could highlight some "old " text, copy and paste it into a different textbox/pargraph and then change any or all of it. The changes made held after clicking out of the box.

If any of that is what you were trying to do and it doesn't work, you need to put in a support request - don't get frustrated with it - let a CC pro get it sorted for you! ;)

Hi,

I have just created my first website with CC and it's looking great! The only problem I am having is that the header on each page is slightly different. On my home page (www.sydneycelebrant.net) it looks the way I wanted it to so I copied and pasted it onto all the other pages and it has worked on some of them but on others the colour is different and the letters seem to be breaking up. Any clues as to how I can solve this problem? The same applies to the text in the bottom right of the screen which is a slightly different colour and font from the other menus.

Thanks,

Philip

Welcome to the forums, Phillip :D
Nice work on the site - that's a lot of info to get organized in a clear easy to find manner.
About your header... On the home page it's text, on the other pages it looks like advanced text because it's displayed as a jpeg image. And for me and anyone else that doesn't have the Harrington font the home page header is displayed in a default font (I see Arial). What I would do for the header is create it in an image editing program (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro...) so you can have the font you want (in VSD enter your title, email and phone number as Alt Text in Object Properties). By the way, the links show up as Arial as well since I don't have Century Schoolbook on my laptop.

About web fonts: http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html

One other recommendation; use actual text rather than images of it for your content so search spiders can find it (they don't read images).

As for text in VSD - no matter the font - sometimes it looks like in your headers, as if there's more than one color. I don't have any idea why that happens to some bits of text and not others, but a forum member found a "fix" for it. Click on the text so you get the blue text-box around it (not red), then click Fill Properties on the top menu bar and choose your color.

I hope this helps you get it sorted out! :)

Thanks for that.

I have changed my header into an image but I am now wondering if the headings inside the oval such as "Sydney Weddings" on the weddings page appear in the correct font on your computer - I did them in Harrington and clicked on the Advanced Text button. I changed the font on the menus to Arial as I hope that all computers would have that!

Can you tell me if the text inside the ovals appears as text on your computer (for the search spiders)
I had to insert it as Button Text in the Object Properties menu after trying to do them as separate text. When I did that the text became disconnected from the ovals.

I appreciate your feedback.

Cheers, Philip
