Text and images are hidden

Hi all,

I have a perplexing problem. I have created a simple page with an image background. I then added some shapes and different font examples.

The problem: Neither the shapes nor the text appear when previewing the page or viewing the page on the site. I was thinking it might have something to do with the background image covering the images and text; however, I'm not sure. I have selected the objects, and tried to bring them "to the front", but no success. I have tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox, and neither displays the images or text. My issue is probably something simple, but nonetheless, I am perlexed.

I am using VSD Version 6.0, Build 6. Here is a link to the page: http://www.momscustomhomes.com/test.html

Thanks, in advance, for your help
John H.

Hi John,

are you saving the file before uploading? I know I forget sometimes and wonder why the changes don't appear :D
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Hi TassieTiger,

Thanks for the suggestion; however, yes, I have saved the files and I've uploaded to the website, but the images and text do not appear either during preview or live access to the site.

The only image on the website is the background image so if you have other images they haven't been saved to the file.

Hi TassieTiger,

I am now more puzzled than before. I know enough about html to be very dangerous. I accessed the page (test.html), and viewed the source code:
    1. There is code for the fonts (textstyles); however no text. For example, I have the word "custom" used in multiple locations on the page; however, when I do a search through the code, there is no "custom" on the page.
    2. Also there are objects 278 through 306 in the code which I think are the images I crreated with the shapes tool, but they do not display.
    3. Are liquor stores open this late at night?

I may have a clue to the challenge here. I have an "#include" declaration on the page. This inserts the menu which is located on the server. When I go to the website and view the source code, the "#include" statement is the last line in the code.

My questions is: Does the placement of the "#include" statement impact how the page displays other items? I am also puzzled by the fact that the images and text do not appear even when previewing. The menu only appears when one views the page at the server. No menu appears during preview.

This is all very unfamiliar to me as I am pretty new to this website-building game.

I really do appreciate your suggestions and comments.

I can't answer the question about the placement of the include code and how it affects the rest of the page but I do know that if its a server side include the menu won't show until its uploaded as by definition it relies on your server.

Hopefully Eric will help with the SSI information :)

Hi folks,

I am more puzzled today than I was yesterday with this issue. Here's what happened today. I have a gut feeling that my SSI insert in the body for displaying the menu is the culprit. I deleted the SSI code from the page, saved the website on my computer, and then re-inserted the SSI code. The result: A partial solution. I can now see the graphic bars I placed on the page using the Shapes tool; however, I still cannot see the text on the page. Now, I am even more suspicious of the SSI #insert code, but I don't know what the issue is.

Here, again, is a link to the page: http://www.momscustomhomes.com/test.html

Thank you all, in advance, for any suggestions on how to solve the "missing" graphics and text.

Hi John,

I've viewed the source of the page and there is no text or images on the page other then the background image and the black line shapes on the left. I searched the source for the word "custom" and there's nothing there. Is the information on another page other then this test page? I suggest submitting a support ticket and include a ZIP of your website project files and the VSD file. We can check it and run a test. Go to Get Support > Your Support Room to submit a ticket. :)
