Ok, I THINK I've found what works for me in uploading. Maybe you guys could try it and see if it works for you also.

I noticed that in my website files that VSD was creating, there were old images that I had deleted a while ago???

A bit odd heh?

I am finding that when I make changes to my website I don't just 'save' over the top of the previous file but I delete the old file and 'save as' a new file. It seems to be uploading Ok.

Fingers crossed - this is it...

Delete the files, remove the files, add the files, close the program, open the program, uninstall the program, reinstall the program, upload this way, upload that way, upload the other way...

Do you guys get the feeling that Scott Swedorski and his crew need to look more closely at how this suite of programs works? Especially at how the various programs work together?

Or maybe all of our problems will go away if we have better documentation. (Have you looked at the Help for FireStarter?)
I have an inferiority complex - but it is not a very good one.

Sharon, I noticed that too a while back. When you change an image or animation on a page VSD adds the new one to the #####_website folder but does not delete the one you replaced, probably because you could be using the same image on several pages. So if you do this frequently you would be uploading a bunch of unnecessary files which would be taking up unnecessary web space. Once in a while I go in and clean out the ####_website folder.

Yeah, it's just an "export" folder, so as far as I know, there's no maintenance done to clean that folder up. If you upload from that folder using another FTP app, I'd simply rename or delete the entire folder and a new one will be created upon the next saving of the site in VSD. At least then, you'd be sure that the files are all new and you didn't have to manually go through it.

At this stage it seems that it's uploading successfully when this folder is new but not when it has been saved over. I'm just using the internal FTP. I THINK that there's something in the saving process that's causing an issue on MY computer with the uploading.
I was hoping that others with uploading issues might read this and give it a go. It might help Scott work out what's going on.

Get a refund from Coffeecup and go buy xsitepro 2. That's what I did and I am glad.

I have no affiliation with that company and do not benefit in any way if you buy it, other than building up good karma.

I have had these sorts of problems with Coffee Cup since 2006. I just said to heck with it and went to NVU. Open source and actually works!!! And it is intuitive.

Why Am I here then, you ask?

Well - every once and awhile I peek in, wishing I could get this software to be what it professes. I just tried again today, and ran into all sorts of issues that a paid for product ought not to have.

Projects Manager is goofy too - Its not considered the working directory???? Drivin me crazy.

Maybe these guys ought to go back to just drinkin' coffee

Back to NVU...

I just purchased vsd6.0 and I am having an issue uploading a website that im working on. I am using the After Twilight- Stone Cold theme. For some reason this will not upload, just gives me a error message "There was an error uploading" but with no info on what is wrong. I cleared out my folder on my server and tried uploading again. Still didn't work. Tried uploading to a new folder on server, still nothing. I opened a site that I created from a different template and checked if it would upload to that folder...yup. I can't seem to see what is wrong, I would like to know where a error log was or a report that i could track down the issue.
