If we added the ability to sort the page order in Visual Site Designer, what features/tools would you like to see to make this easier for you?

Below is my ultra fancy mock-up of how I see the feature should work.

Now is the time to sound off and let your voice be heard ;)

That there high-tech drawring looks fine with me... I would actually enjoy seeing something like that in a piece of software, just to break up the monotony of the usual humdrum software :)

That really does look like it would work for most required applications.

Scott,

Why would you want this feature?

Thanks,

Perhaps you could add another data field, totally arbitrary, that would let the user number the pages how they wanted for sorting. Sometimes my desired page order has nothing to do with the name or date/time fields. I see there are move up/down controls in the prototype, but a one-click custom ordering could be nice.

Add about 50 pages to your Website. Then under the "Show page" you will find a long list of pages and you may have to scroll a lot to find the one you wanted to work with. Now imagine you have 100, 200 etc..

To do that, we would then have to insert data into the vnu file. I can just see some user inserting a javascript or something goofy and having it corrupt the vnu ;)

A user inserting data not appropriate to the field's data type? Whatever gave you the idea that would happen?!

Heh.

I think an option to sort pages would be a great idea. My VSD web site has 80 pages with about 800 images.

Identifying images and sorting them would be an even a greater option but I doubt there is much hope of this..:)
