Do the themes included with the Shopping Cart Default - VSD Theme Pack have variations like left/right/top navigation and/or 1024px & 800px versions where these occur in counterpart SCC themes?

Don't think the themes match as in counterparts for each program. They do vary on navigation position (top and side). You can install the trial version of each to see for yourself what you get.

Thanks Tom, it was mainly the variations on nav position that I was wondering about.

Hmm, I hadn't considered the themes would be available on trials too, but I think I'll just buy them.

You can get a theme pack called Shopping Cart Default for the HTML Editor and one of the other programs as well (might be the web form builder) and this matches the default themes in SCC
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

The HTML Editor, VSD, and Form Builder, do infact, have a matching pack for the Shopping Cart default themes. That's good to know. Thanks for the info Tassie. Sorry to mislead you Steven.

No problem, Tom. I knew the VSD shopping cart default themes matched various of the SCC themes. I've since bought the package and answered my own question. The themes in the VSD shopping cart default package don't quite match the SCC theme versions in that there are no left nav versions in the VSD theme pack of:

80s punk
Classic Jazz
Clean slate

nor a right nav version of Film Noir.

I want to use
- left nav,
- no cart summary on page
- a theme where the extra pages links aren't hidden behind a main home button but are always visible.

I'd been working with SCC theme 80's punk left nav, as it was the only one SCC theme variation I saw that fulfilled all three of the above. I'd thought I'd just get the VSD and use 80's punk left nav theme for rest of project to match the store portion.

Its not a gripe, they are what they are...... good solid theme templates and I'll use some of them in other projects. I'll work something else out for this one. Hopefully, in the fullness of time, more variations on themes will be developed so that each comes with left, right, and top variations.

But for now, back to the old drawing board.

Hiya Steven,

There are quite a few themes that have no visual summary on the pages, just a button or link at the top area that take you to your cart and shows you the number of items you have in your cart which is pretty minimal.

None of the themes will do the extra pages on separate buttons within the SCC setup. It will always be under one button or another. This is a default of the program itself rather than the themes.

Hi Jo Ann, thats true, but of those that fulfil all 3 requirements as mentioned earlier, only 80s punk is available as a VSD theme. However, as I discovered, the VSD version has no left nav, my 1st requirement stated earlier, but not quoted above.

That isn't correct, check your themes in SCC again. 80s punk shows the extra pages as seperate links on the left nav. Other SCC themes show these pages as unhidden links as well, but don't have left nav available and/or have the cart summary. 80's punk was the only one that would've worked for my purpose. I suppose I'll have to build my own template in VSD and try to match it to an SCC theme.

I stand corrected on that menu setup, thanks for pointing that out because I really and truly didn't realize that any of the themes did that. Looks to be only the vertical ones that have that option though, too bad since mine is a horizontal one lol. Thanks for putting me straight on that though :)

Yeah, that why I'll go with one of the verticals navs as a template. If it wasn't for the hidden link issue, I'd go with a horizonal top nav. I really don't like the links hidden in a drop down from the home button. If I'm on the shop home page, that's the last place I'd look for site nav. Sure, you'd likely stumble on them, or could use the links in the footer, but I prefer the main nav links out in the open.

I quite like the Jupiter template that you started with, and there is loads of unused room on the nav bar for the links to display side by side, rather than tucked away in drop-downs. Perhaps, eventually there will be templates available with top nav and exposed links together.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
