sharing vsd
I am working on rebuilding our local computer club website. There is another person that will share this responsibility with me. What is the best way to work in vsd collaboratively, short of setting up a network server?
Thanks,
Galen

It is not advisable to do this, because if you upload something, the same changes have to be reflected on your friend's computer, same file location etc. If you don't pay attention to that, every update you do to the site will overwrite whichever updates your friend has done in the meantime. But if you are certain about being able to manage it, then have a go. And your friend would have to have a valid licence of VSD, of course...

Yes. Those are the pitfalls I am trying to avoid. He has already purchased his vsd. I was thinking of putting vsd on an older computer I have and giving him acess to it through teamviewer. At least that way all the files would be kept on one machine.
I can foresee a terrible mess if we try and modify a site design in which vsd is kept on two different computers in two different locations.
Other questions:
Is there anyway to easily create a backup zip file of the project, inlcuding all files? If so, the last user could create that file and the next user could download that.
I notice backup folder created on the host server that contains backup vnu files. How often does vsd create those backup files? Is there anyway to be sure the latest vnu file is backed up to that folder?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I think a new .vnu file is generated every time a change is uploaded. But it's not just the .vnu, also the source files need to be shifted to the other person.
If you and your friend also have the CC DFTP, a zipfile with the whole site is easily created from the server and downloaded.
As for other suggestions, I hope someone more VSD savvy will pop in here. I don't really use VSD, as I'm coding my sites.

Thanks for the suggestion about the zip file in DFTP. Didn't notice it before . That may be the answer.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
And then you and your friend will have to make sure you are not working on the site at the same time. If not, you may risk that one of you downloads the zipfile the minute before the other one uploads some change...

I would try setting your pc up with Logmein and give your friend access to your pc. I see way to many problems attempting to do it any other way.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
