series of links (in a text box)...

Hi guys,

So I have this website, mp3kjv.com. It's basically an online free Bible, one sub-page for each book of the Bible. So on each sub-page there is a text box with a list of chapters in that book, click on the link and you can hear that chapter read, etc. So far so good.

Problem: after I go to all the trouble of assigning separate links to all the separate chapter titles in the text box, and then save the page and load it to the server via FTP, I come back and find that SOME (not all) of the text boxes have reverted to a single link. I.e., suddenly all the links in a text box are connected, and all point to the first file in the text box. Sometimes I have to go back and (tediously) redo all the links two or three times until the change sticks.

Is this a known issue with Visual Site Designer? Any ideas on what's going wrong?

One other question in the "idle curiosity" dept - why is it impossible to import html into VSD? This was a big problem for me recently when a hard drive failed where I had my .vsd file saved, and the online backup was missing. Seems like it should be easy to take the .html and turn it back into a .vsd file? Not?

Issue #1: Not sure why it is doing that. However, I did notice 2 problems. First, some of your links have 'spaces' in them. Not a good practice and may be what is causing your problems. Different browsers react strangely with spaces. I would change ANY link you have with a space in it. Make it a - or _ and it should work fine. Second, I notice that you are using an outdated version of VSD. Current release is Build 26. You are using Build 24. I would update since it's FREE :D Might solve the problem, might not. Let us know either way.

Issue #2: VSD is a WYSIWYG design program. Various files store different information and there is no way VSD can import an HTML page and get everything the way you want it. That's just not what it was designed for. Not sure why the backup file on the server was missing ??? It should have been in a directory called 'Backups' under your ROOT. Anyway, always a good idea to invest in a cheap thumb drive and keep a backup

Hi Paul.
Part of the problem may be the fact that your making hard turns in your text boxes.
This article will help explain this but in the Readers Digest version don't hit the return key to start a new line. If you can't get your text stacked correctly using the standard text box, either place each line in it's own text box or hard code the needed text into a html box.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
