I'm an old Frontpage guy, having recently jumped into the Coffeecup world. The software is great, except for one major, deal-killing flaw: Every time you change anything, hitting "save" means saving the entire website over again. This means that on a website with a brazillion (and more coming) video links like mine, saving is now taking as long as 5 minutes each time I make a change. That is simply not acceptable software design.
Actually, what happens is this:
1. Hit "Save"
2. Progress bar appears, says it's "Validating"
3. Another progress bar appears, says it's "Saving"
4. Progress bar disappears, appears to be complete after maybe 20 seconds -- but the cursor just keeps on spinning. Windows reports that the program is "Not Responding" throughout this phase.
5. After 4 - 5 minutes, the spinning cursor disappears, and the program works again.
So, perhaps it's not really "Saving" throughout this process? I have no idea what else it could be doing. Hopefully someone here does!
Here's an example of how this problem completely cripples the user: I've discovered a "dead link" that inadvertently got copied to all of my pages in the initial design phase. Removing each one (and then saving that page) takes 5 minutes apiece. This means this process is going to take upwards of 35 minutes, to remove 7 links from 7 pages!
That is just unacceptable. If this can't be worked around, Coffeecup will follow FrontPage 2003 into the trash bin. Anyone got a solution?
