We presently have a live temporary one page website, www.Seed-Favors.com which is hosted on the hostgator server (sorry, but we had used them before we had heard about cc :( ), and we are putting the full website together using VSD.
How can I delete our old temporary site and then upload the newly designed version?

To publish the VSD version site it asks for some info.

For instance we would put the name 'hostgator" as our server, but the next set of fields require the
username and password (would that mean the servers username and password) or do we have to create one for VSD?

Also, what does the remote folder, Port 21 and passive mode mean?

I'm sorry for all of these questions, but I have no idea how to do this.

Hiya Holly,

The server would be whatever the server is that you have the site hosted as. Not hostgator but maybe seed-favors.com or something similar that is your registered server account. This is usually the login name you created when you created your Hostgator account, OR it's the domain name you have the server registered as in Hostgator. Hopefully that makes sense. Usually it's whatever domain name you set it up for that particular website or server.

The ID and Password would be the login for that account for that website on Hostgator. Port 21 is usually the default so you shouldn't have to change that, and the Passive is a setting on the server (can't recall exactly how to explain it, but basically try it one way and if it doesn't work try it the other way.

The best thing you could do is contact Hostgator and have them give you the settings for connecting to the FTP and that way you have all the correct information. Good Luck on it and let us know if you need more assistance with it, but definitely contact Hostgator and get the correct login setups from them :)
