Problem with headers when using...

I'm having a problem with my headers when using Advanced Text. It looks like there are two headers overlapping (there aren't). If I delete the header, save and publish, and then put it back, save and publish, it's doubled up again. You can see as it loads, the header looks fine, then shifts to the right and shows another first letter.

The other issue I'm having is that VSD is not showing WYSIWYG. The text on my work space looks fine, but when I publish, it's much smaller. In order for it to show correctly on the web when published, I have to make it much larger on my workspace, and often times it runs off the area that I'm placing it. The spacing and proportion aren't right.

This is a front page that I'm trying to get right, before generating the supporting pages. Any ideas? http://home.comcast.net/~jamielee6/

Neither of these issues were occuring in my previous version of VSD. I'm using version 7, build 24.

There really is no such thing as a true WYSIWYG editor anymore due to the way different browsers render text. What you see inside of VSD is only an approximation of what it MAY look like.

Although this update to Visual Site Designer has made vast improvements to the markup and how the site will display in different browsers and operating systems, there are a few things you should take a look at.

Understanding both of these articles will greatly enhance your understanding on how the software works.

For that header, what I would suggest is this. Turn off Advanced Text and then goto File > Save As and save your website to a new folder on your desktop. Restart VSD and then open your newly saved website and publish. You should then be able to turn it back on and publish again.

Scott,
Thanks for the input. I tried that on another website I'm working on (http://www.roniandrebekkah.com/) and it didn't totally fix the issue. Notice the H in Hello has a small stutter, still. It's possible that I edited other things after the fact, and the duplicate issue happened again?

I've noticed on quite a few threads, you've recommended to "save as" to get rid of extra files. While this temperarilty fixes the problem, it does not address the big issue, which is why is VSD making extra files each time? Are we really supposed to just "save as" every time we save, or every 5 times? Please tell me you guys working on a solution to the problem...

Jamie, As a work around for the duplicate text sticking out from behind some of you text box's, try making them buttons with the same color background as the element behind them and just don't link them.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

The way VSD works is that when you add images and then overlap them with text or other objects, VSD makes an image of that new combined object. Then if you change things a bit, VSD makes a new image of that. This goes on and on because we do not delete any of the images out of the files folder. Doing a periodic File > Save As is the best way to clear things up.

At this time there are no plans to adjust how this works as this is part of the core of VSD and would pretty much require a re-write of the software.

We are still looking into the Advanced Text issue but so far have not been able to reproduce it too well. Eric was kind enough to send us one of his sites, but when we opened it here and published, we didn't have any issues. Once we can figure out how to reproduce it, we will definitely fix it.
