Problem after upgrading to Version 7

after upgrading to ver.7, the name of my website folder changed. the "-v6" was removed from the middle of the folder name. when i hit the Preview button, an error message told me that a file was missing from the download folder. VSD was looking for a file in the download subfolder under the old folder (the one with "-v6" in the name). i didn't save the changes i made to the website, worrying that the sync would mess up the links to the files in the download folder.

is this a problem just with the Preview function?

I would suggest clicking save and then reopen your website and see if that helps. We automatically zip up and make a backup of the older site if you ever want to do a rollback you have that option.

i'm still getting the message about the files in the Download folder, whether i try to preview, upload or just save the .vnu file.

adding to this, the link is actually incorrect on the Link Propoerties window. It's still showing the old folder (the folder with the "-v6")

any ideas, Scott?

Have you tried re-linking them? Also are you opening up the correct new site that was created in 7.0 and not the .VNU file that ends in v-6?

In VSD, have you tried going to the File Menu and select "Save As" and give it a new name and see if that helps?

If none of the above works, I would probably suggest next is to open a support ticket and zip up all of your website files so we can take a look at what is going on.

i tried browsing to the file, and the error came up again for the same file, even though there is only one link on my website to that file.

yes, opening the correct .vnu file.

yes, i've tried saving as a different name... same problem.

fyi, the problem is only for links to files in the Download folder. I am going to re-link them manually, but i'm surprised i'm the only one it happened to.

Thanks. I would suggest then zipping all of the files up and open a support ticket so we can see what is going on.

When i said i tried to re-link them, i was attempting to do it by hitting the Browse button on the error window that popped up when trying to preview/upload/save.

i've just re-linked them manually by going to each page and changing the link using the Link Properties window. everything works fine now. hopefully, nobody else has this problem and you won't have to worry about finding out what the problem was.

I've got the same link problem after upgrading to V7. I reverted to V6 but the links don't work there either as V7 seems to have unlinked all documents in the download file. Until you get this sorted I shall stay on V6 and re-establish all my links manually!

I have gone back to version 6 as well. I installed version 7 and opened my website file created in version 6 and everything looked good but then I noticed there was ghosting or shifting with some of my text.

Scott i had the issue with some of the text shifting, BUT i managed to work out it was where i originally copied text from one page to another, and then edited the bits i needed to change on the new page which i did a lot of in VSD 6

With this feature in V7 where copied and pasted items go 10 pixls to right and 10pixls down, i think transferring from v6 to v7 plays a little havoc with it.
