Just a suggestion on your question. You may want to consider a "printer friendly" version of your recipe pages which contains just the recipe without all the ads, etc.

Or a printer friendly css file attached to the recipe files. I have used this here: http://www.kandoraservice.de/english/service.html . Check out a print preview. You don't even need a Print button, just use the standard print options in your browser.
