No Jpg's When Page is Behind .htaccess

I created one .htaccess protected directory using my web host utility. Within that protected directory I have one page with about a dozen pdf links. The narrative, links and pdf's work fine.

This one web page that is in the protected directory is a the same template of all the rest of my unprotected web pages. There are several buttons (jpg) in the left column created with VSD.

I did a bit of testing - when the page in question is "not" in the protected directory, the page looks as it should. When "in" the protected directory, the jpg buttons don't appear. In IE there are faint outlines of the buttons with an x in the button like missing jpg's. In FF and Opera no buttons appear.

When opening the page in the VSD program an asterisk appears in the top blue title bar. Over and over I've checked the links, saved the page and the asterisk goes away. I re uploaded, overwritten the file - still does not look right. When I open the page again in VSD the asterisk appears again. This repeats itself.

Can someone provide some insight as to what's occuring and how to fix it.

Thanks
Steve

It's "late" night as I read this so sorry if I'm way off base...

When you put the 'template' page in the secure folder, did you also copy all images used on the template page? I would think that they need to be there as well as the main directory (unless you refer back to the main directory).

What Phil said. VSD puts all those images in a "files" folder, and the pages it creates refer to that folder. If you just copied the page into the new location without bringing the "files" folder and its contents along for the ride the page won't be able to find the images. You'd have a similar problem if the page had any of the Flash effects or other data the page would need to display properly.
