Hello All:

The short description: open VNU file created in VSD 5.x and immediately get errors about missing images.

Windows XP

steps:

uninstall VSD 5.x

install VSD 6

File | Open Website | op.vnu

Get Notification about it being created in previous designer etc.
Yes

Get message box:
The selected picture does not exist
...\op.vnu_website\files\pattern.jpg

Now, I get a whole bunch of the same errors with different file names.
the \files folder is full of numbered files that appear to be "slices" of a pages created by VSD.

Based on the names the missing pieces appear to be from the original template. The missing pieces appear to be the original background image file and other such pieces.

I'm guessing the only solution is to install the old VSD, find the template, copy the files?

I had this with another site that was also based on an older template but it only was missing a background file and I was able to make a new file.

bye

Hmm, no replies.

Okay, then I suggest this is a bug. Or was a bug in 5.x is it still there in 6?

Used VSD 5.x template to create a site.
Saved the VNU files and folders.

upgrade to VSD 6.x and pieces of the web site are missing. IE texture images for the background and other images from the template.

SO, VSD 5.x DID NOT save the entire web site files. It appears to be using pieces stored in the template folder. It failes to stream them out to the site's VNU files.

Time for a new thread I guess because NOW the question becomes how does one know if ALL the files needed by VSD have been saved?

bye
