I am using VSD 7.0 build 24 and am having problems creating links to .pdf files which are located in the files/Download directory within the site.
I can create the text object, make the link and as soon as I close the link properties box the text colour changes to white on a white background. Once this has happened there doesn't seem to be any way that I have found to change the text colour back short of going into the files generated by VSD and altering the colour there. The object properties box seems to have no effect whatsoever.
While I can work round the problem, my solution isn't ideal because the site is being set up for a customer who has neither the skills nor the inclination to go and edit the site manually every time he needs to add a new product spec sheet.
Has any body else experienced this problem at all, if so, is there a more elegant solution?
Link text colour
Did you try turning on "Allow advanced text"?
Click on the text then object. Now check the box in the object properties box. Then change it to what ever color you like.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Go to settings, standard settings for all pages (top left of VSD)
You should be able to set the link colour global settings there
I am guessing they are presently set to white ???????
And any changes made outside VSD will be overwritten with the next upload from inbuilt VSD FTP
And as Eric has said you can use advanced text option, and in conjunction with efects tool, OR Buttoniser creat all sorts of nice colour and appearance options
Eric typing at same time as you !!!
