Is VSD adding shadow-type effect to...

Hi. This sounds like a ridiculous newbie question, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. I'm using VSD 5.9, and when I'm creating text using the text box function, it looks like it's adding a drop shadow or bevel or something to the text, even though I don't have "allow advanced text" box checked or any of the "add shadow"-type boxes checked. How I noticed it was when I typed in the red text box, the white letters were sharp and bright, but when I clicked out of the text box (turning the red text box into the blue outline box), the letters seemed to be changing. So what I did was type white letters on a white background, which were, of course, made the letters invisible, but when I clicked out of the text box, the white letters changed and had a drop shadow of some kind on them. Is there something I'm missing? If there are no effects added, and the text remains "text" and not an "object," the text appearance shouldn't change any after clicking out of the text box, right? A couple of years ago, I started a thread about fuzzy text (see http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/designe … agination/ ) and some helpful discussion has been added over the years, but, in this case, I'm not making the text an object. The only think I can think of, which somebody also mentioned in my old thread, is that I'm putting the white text over a green object. But, still, this should only cause "fuzziness," not some sort of drop shadow result. Again, am I missing something?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tomas,
The version is 6.0 build 6-
I read your post and tried that is the new version and there is no shadow of any kind so I would suggest that you upgrade, you'll find many different and wonderful things in the new version.:)

Thanks for the reply, Bruzer. I did upgrade but then there was a problem that not even customer service could resolve, so I had to go back to 5.9.

However, I sorta resolved my problem, for anybody who might have the same in the future. Well, I did fix it, but I don't know what the problem was. To resolve my problem, after entering my white text in the text box, I clicked outside the box so the box around the text turned blue, and then I clicked the "fill" button at the top. Instead of allowing the default radial button for "text color" to be checked, I clicked the radial button for "single color" and made it white. It took away that shadow effect I was seeing. This also applies for any other color. Even when I made the text black, this shadow effect was appearing. But when I chose black as my "single color," the shadow went away. I don't know if this helps anybody understand what was happening, but it worked.

Thanks again.

What kind of trouble did you have with upgrading?:)

Glad you figured it out though!

The problem I was having was with regard to an image that would not line up correctly at www.wizzstickers.com. It was the main header image, and the problem was described in my post at http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/designe … scaled-to/ . I did a telephone meeting with customer service, and they did that process in which they took control over my computer, and he couldn't figure out what was happening either. He just said to go back to 5.9, and that was fine with me.

Thanks for your help.

Great tip, Tom!
I had this happening on some text, not all of it. Tried deleting and re-typing, checked all the settings... nothing worked. Thanks very much for sharing this! It looks normal now - crisp and clear:)

I'm glad Tom figured out a "fix" for this problem - I had been struggling with this as well. I hope that the creators of VSD come up with a permanent fix for this issue. (Hint, hint, wink, wink) :D
