I have uploaded my CC site to my server, but cannot get the home page to show in the browser. When I go to the site, all there is is a list of the files. I have set my server to show index.vnu, but it's not working. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Your home page should be named index.html, if it's already an html file, just name it index, and the extension is already added.

thanks Bruzer. I tried to name it "index.html", but VSD will only allow me to save it as a vnu file. I think I'm missing a step here.

I resaved it as "index.html", but on my server it shows as "index.html.vnu" and the server does not support vnu files. I am using IX Web Hosting. How can I save the home page as "index.html" without the "vnu"?

It sounds as though you are saving the file (.vnu) locally and manually FTP'ing that file to your server.
You could either "Upload" from within VSD which would convert your pages to .html upon uploading.
Or you could manually FTP the proper files (which you are close to)...
Say you saved your file as C:\HTML\123.vnu
In the folder HTML there will also be a folder called 123 Files. Those are the .html files (and graphics) that need to go to the server. I think if you follow either of these steps you will be ontrack

Robert,
My website name is Myofficialnewbie.com, therefore I made this in VSD so when I saved it, it made a folder in My Documents Myofficialnewbie.vnu_website. Now in this folder are all my images and pages which are automatically html's. there is a folder inside called files and in that files folder are all the image and a folder called download, all part of your website. Now you'll see a file called index, which is your homepage, all the pages have extensions of html so no need to add them. all you need to do if your using filezilla or direct ftp whatever, is open your website folder and upload everything in the nightowlmusic.vnu_website folder.Hi Phil!

Thanks everyone. I finally managed to get the site up via FTP, except for one page that dropped a photo. I tried re-saving it and uploading it several times, to no avail.
I appreciate all the help!

Hi Robert,
this is the file structure of VSD, I noticed you have your pages located in the Download folder, which is in the files folder. The reason your having a problem is because (of course I haven't checked out the code yet) the pages belong outside the files folder. The files folder holds all your images.

here' an idea of what you should see when you look at your server.
so now what you need to do is using an ftp client is upload IMG_10.jpg to the files folder, that will take care of page 2. And IMG_9.jpg for page 1 ( intro page goes in files folder as well. I can show you how to upload

Nice work
If I may suggest, there seems to be no way to navigate back (or to other pages) from within any of the pages on the site. I would recommend placing a navigation section on each page (and standardize it).

I really appreciate the help, but this program is very frustrating. I went back to view it on my local computer, and it is all messed up. There are images strewn all over the home page, it won't open or close properly. I've never seen anything like this.
I know that I am not adept at this sort of thing, but this is getting frustrating. How could a page change like that by itself???
