Import a pre-owned template into VSS?

I own a template or CSS coding that I want to work with. I can put it into the html editor, and it looks great - but I'm not html savvy enough to code it. I want to use the template in the VSS, but can't seem to figure out how to open it. It is not a coffee cup template, something that I got online.

I've been reading the help pdf and searching the forums, but not finding the info I need. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think you can use it in VSD apart from adding it as part of a page using the html tool, but not as an entire template as such.

You should be able to use and edit it in the HTML editor though.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Bummer.

That won't help since I can't code worth a darn. I only know enough to edit code once it's written.

Hiya Julie,

VSD isn't a coding software it's all visual (barring the ability to input code of course which it can do), so if you're looking for something that is Visual then VSD would definitely be worth taking a look at. There is a trial version that has all the features on it that you can check it out to see if you like it or not. Give it a try and see what you think.

The problem with the theme though is that VSD saves things into a specific file for use, it doesn't save each file separately in a folder. Sort of like a zip file with all your files in it structured exactly how it needs it etc. The difficulty is that the program is unable to import things into that file, it can only export them. It exports them out automatically when you upload your site.

What you can do is try to recreate it and create your own theme for it. Also the program does come with some themes and CC does have a Theme Shop where you can purchase others pretty cheap.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
