Hi,
I have been using VSD for quite a while now and have had no problems. For some reason now when I design a page it previews fine in VSD, but when I upload it to the server it shows the 'x' for images that I have added.
I am aware that the images need to be in the same file on the server as the computer and they are. So I checked the pages that are playing up in Dreamweaver and the image path is just 'file/'
For some reason VSD is not coding in the image name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks heaps

Just to check the banal... are you certain that you have saved all the site changes etc. before uploading?
Can you possibly let us see a url to check for ourselves where the problem might lie?

Yes, I definitely save the VSD site before uploading it. It previews perfectly in VSD, but if you open the file in a HTML editor (I use Dreamweaver) it shows the image path as just 'file/' with no image name.
It has only started to happen in the last month and it only happens to any images that I change or add to pages now. Images that were previously on the page aren't effected.
Would it pay to try uninstalling VSD and re-installing?
One of the pages is www.thefirm.net.au/beauty.html
But I have fixed the image paths in Dreamweaver so the page is working. It is just a pain having to go to Dreamweaver to put in the image paths.
Cheers

Does the VSD really call the folder just 'file'? All the versions of VSD I have had and tried out, the folder is named 'files' (plural).
Ha en riktig god dag!

I suspect that part of the problem is precisely the fact that you combine VSD with Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is likely to interpret the code and strip and add according to its inherent code set up. However, there would be no harm in uninstalling and reinstalling to see if this helps in any way.
Is there a particular reason you have for opening up the files in an editor? The program was created to work as a standalone without the use of html page editing, be that a CoffeeCup html editor or any other such as Dreamweaver. For small areas of html code there is the code box which you can insert into the VSD page using the application interface. There should be no need - normally at least - to open up the pages in an html editor.

In reply to Inger - a correction from me, it lists it as 'files/' - I made a typo, sorry.
Thank you for your feedback Janys. I will try and make a brand new page and see if it has the same problem. If there is no problem, then I would say you are spot on and Dreamweaver has corrupted the coding. I think I initially used Dreamweaver for the page as I couldn't get VSD to insert a .swf file I had created.

I just tried making a quick New page and the same thing happens. It previews fine, but when uploaded any image just has "files/" as the path. I will try and uninstall and re-install VSD.
Just un-installed and re-installed VSD and unfortunately even making new pages now I have this problem. Any image I put on - even on brand new blank pages - previews fine, but shows as a broken image once posted.
Hmmm. Not too sure what to try next?

At this point Joel it might be an idea to put in for a ticket at the CC help desk as I don't know quite what else to suggest. If someone else has any idea, hopefully they will drop by - I know there are others much better acquainted with VSD who might have other suggestion.
Joel - as Janys said, you shouldn't have to use another editor with VSD.
Where are your images saved at before you add them to your VSD site? Do you have a folder that you save the salon photos to? For example; you make a folder called "the firm-website" and then you save everything there that will go on that site. I usually create folders for "site graphics", "photos", and anything else I might add to the site. The actual VSD site would get saved to that website folder as well. Now everything is in one place, and those folders don't get moved around!
Now, when you go to add a photo, you click the insert image tool and choose the photo from your "photos" folder. When VSD inserts the photo, it also creates the image file in it's Files folder. As long as you don't change/move your "photos" folder, VSD will be able to find and display the image. Just make sure you not only save your changes, but also remember to upload every time you do!
Maybe you could explain your process so we might have an idea where the problem is?
