Hi,

When using the HTML tool is it possible to see what the html code creates without clicking the "preview" button? Right now all I see is "preview not available".

Thanks in advance for any help,
yeto

I responded to this post earlier and now it's gone.:/ I saw there was 4 post from you after I posted you must have had one of those slow post glitches.:D
As far as seeing what the the HTML makes before preview is a no go. Maybe in a later version of VSD CC will give the ability to fill this space with a screen shot but once you get use to the look it works fine. It's still easier then hard coding because you have a box the size of the object taking up space so placing elements around it is not so trial and error as in hard coding.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Is there a trick to know how large to make the HTML box so that you know that all the code will show?

Thanks,
yeto

Most HTML code for objects has a width and length expressed in it some way. Can you post the code for us to look at?:) For VSD the box can be the wrong size and the object will still show fine on the web. Having the box the right size is more important so it takes its proper place while your designing your page so you know how to place things.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately, this code does not give me the width and length.

I downloaded Wonder Webware Screen Ruler from Cnet and I am using that to size some of the HTML code in preview mode and it seems to be working fine.

Thanks for all your help and time,
yeto

Another thing you can do when laying out a page is to use a shape as a placeholder. For example, drag a rectangle out in an area where you need a form. Get your text and any other page elements in place, adjusting the dimensions of the rectangle if needed. Then look at the Object Properties to get the width/height and now you know what size your form (or other html object) needs to be. Just delete the shape.
