"Look I finally made myself a signature!"
I noticed that this error occurs when I first begin working on a site (even after the first save). I can save the site as many times as I want and I still get the error. But the first time I close VSD and then re-open the program and then reopen the site, the error goes away....

Make sure you do not have a mouse over object intersecting some were in your sight, i had same issue found a mouse over object taht was the problem.
sorry i think faster that i type, spelling errors "that" and "site"
I have encountered this several times. As I was working this weekend (after a Coffee Cup hiatus), I THINK the way I got it to save, after I got that message a couple different times - was that there was an object box highlighted (blue) and I just unclicked that. It seems way too simple but I know that I did that twic in response to that message and then it worked ????
Saying that it could not save the home page just happened to me on a new website I was starting. Only the backgroud color was selected. So, I "saved as" and found that it was trying to save it in the wrong folder. So, I found the vnu files and saved. After I trained the computer a couple of times where to save the site it finally worked ok and now saves right away. Just my experience. Sarah
This problem occurs on my machine most of the time and I can tell you how I reproduce it on my machine.
Try This:
1. Open VSD and create a new file. Any size will do.
Enter some text onto the page. I used gibberish for my test, but it probably doesn't matter.
2. Using "Save As" from the file pull-down menu, save the file to a folder. I used Debug version 4" for the name of my folder.
3. Click on the "Save" icon and the error message will appear.
I have had this problem for so long now that I never use the "save" icon anymore and just use the save-as.
I hopes this helps.

The error only happens to me after I do a 'Save as..'
If I create a new file and then use 'Save' I am then asked to name the file, the error will not happen no matter how many times I save the file.
As soon as I do a 'Save as..' and choose a file name then I get the error using both the file drop down 'Save' or 'Save' icon. It does not matter if I type in a new filename or choose a previous filename in the file dialog. The error still happens after a 'Save as..'
The error never occurs when I use the file drop down and choose one of the previous files listed on the bottom.
The error never occurs if I open a file using the 'Open Website' from the drop down menu.
The error always occurs everytime directly after a 'Save as..' command is used.
After the error occurs you must use the 'Save as..' command to save the file. You will still get the error, but if you close the website and then reload it the save command will continue to work until you use the 'Save as..' command.
Appears to not have anything to do with the website contents as it works the same for all websites. Any website will save, with or without, the error.
Looks as though you have a issue with the formatting of the filename text whenever you perform a "Save As" command. All files now have the '-V6.vnu' appended to the file name in this new version, and all folders have this added as well. Check the "Save as..' variable and for both filename and foldername and the formatting of these.

Just a note I get the error even if I have not even edited anything in the page.
I can save a blank website with no issues, until I do a 'save as'
So check the routine that determines if the file has the -v6.vnu and ignores it if present.
Happens in both XP and Windows 7.

We are about 99.999% sure the save process has nothing to do with it. What we have found common among those who gave us their files was an empty text element on one of the pages. Once we removed that, it saved fine. We just can't figure out how they are being created.
Try going through your pages one by one and do a Control-A and look at what was selected. See if you can locate an empty element. When you see it, delete it and it will save.

I have no empty elements. I tried the Control-A and found no elements. I can do a select all and delete everything and I still get the error when I do.
Even with no objects it happens. I have tried adding objects. It still only happens after I do the save as.
