New user here. I downloaded the VSD trial about a week ago and I am climbing the learning curve.

I'm using one of the supplied themes and I want to add a drop shadow to one of the text objects in it. When I select the object and open the Effects menu using the button at the top of the page, selecting Drop Shadow adds the shadow effect to the text in the object, but not to the object itself.

What am I doing wrong?

A screenshot would help, or else an explanation of which theme you are using and which graphic inside that theme you are having trouble with so that I can test it for you. But my initial guess is that the text is directly in front of the object and you have just clicked on the text instead of the object. When you have text directly over an object it's often hard to tell which one you've clicked on, the text or the object. You just have to work with it and sorta click around the edges until you figure out which is which :-)
