Help uploading CSS menu into VSD #2 -...

What I see when I click on the "use this_files" it takes me to the code for an SDrive error page
(<p>Try heading <a href="/">Home</a> to see if you can find what you&#8217;re looking for, or make a U-turn with your browser&#8217;s Back button.</p>). The "display:none" is to keep it out of site unless the page requested doesn't load for some reason.
Nothing to do with a menu. Eric has links to 2 menu stylesheets (quickmenu and superfish). Do you have those files? Ah, finally... Eric's online (he so seldom not here :D)....
I'm sure he can get you going in the right direction ;)

Well, since he hasn't popped in here yet...
I had a look at his menu instructions. You should have a link similar to his in your head section (his instruction example is called css/menu-menu.css – change that to whatever your menu is called as in the examples from the code above; quickmenu, etc.).
This is the link to the menu files that should be uploaded using the Edit > Add Files panel. You can also go to Edit > Edit Header and paste your menu css stylesheet link there. ;)

Thanks, Paintbrush!

When I click on the link on my computer, I get a browser window with the style.css code -- I've attached a file showing the code here.

I'm guessing that if it shows up for me but not for you, then that means I'm not uploading the file correctly to my Root directory. I've checked and double-checked this, though --- following Scott's instructions -- and also rechecked my header code. All seems to be in place.... I'm baffled.

Thanks for trying and for your patience!

Thanks, Kara (I'm never going to finish it :lol:, I've started a responsive redesign... )

This is the only link I'm seeing:
<!--html inserted by user -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="usethis_files/css3menu1/style.css" type="text/css" /><style>._css3m{display:none}</style>

...which sends me to the error page code. Could you try a new link with just the name of your menu css file? Refer to Eric's example to write it:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/mymenu" media="screen">
Then make sure you have your css file with the mymenu files (or whatever you name it as long as it matches the link) in your uploaded files.

Helloooo Eric! Where are you? :D
I would expect he could get to the bottom of this pretty quick since he's helped other VSD users get these drop-downs set up.

Hi Kara. Try this.;)
<link type="text/css" href="style.css" rel="stylesheet">
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks, Eric!!! It wasn't registering with me that all the extra file names in the header code were different from your example. I took them out and everything is working beautifully!

Still have a lot of work to do on the site, but very happy with the menu and you can see it here:

Today is my birthday, and this was a fantastic way to start it! :D

Hiya Kay,

Looking nice so far. I would suggest adjusting your menu dropdown so it's not left aligned so that small little short one under People doesn't go so far over to the left.

Thanks, Jo Ann!

Yep - that's bugging me a bit, too. I tried centering the submenus in the menu program I'm using, and it only centers the words but the drop down tab is still left-aligned and small - so it looks even odder.

As I get a bit more time, I'll see if I can figure out how to center the tab, and also make the size static so it won't be super-small for tabs with short titles.
