Help inserting java applet

Hello,

I am completely new to website design and have just purchased VSD. I am designing a website for my chess club and have used one of the templates provided in VSD. I have tested the site and everything is working good so far. I would like to add a chess viewer applet which allows visitors to view chess games, such as the one on this website:

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1022555

The viewer is a free java applet and is found at this site: http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/c … eluxe.html

However, I cannot figure out how to apply the installation instructions to VSD and am hoping someone can help walk me through this.

I apologize if this is a basic question and appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you,
Tim

Just paste the code they supply into the page using the html tool and upload the Viewer-Deluxe.jar to the server in a folder named games. You may need to use Direct FTP or the Free FTP program to upload the file to the server.

Thanks for the reply, Tom. I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work.

It's probably best to post a question on that blog page. I bet he will get you going.

I tried the blog code with the same results even used the html editor and ftp'd the files up. The links validated on the website so I don't know what the problem is. I would do as Tom suggested and post a request on the chess website as someone there might have seen the same problem. If you get it figured out could you post back to this thread so others can see the solution?:)

It seems to be a perl script involved too. Does your sever support perl?

Hi Inger, I check my host and they support perl. I'm down to getting an error where it says "load: class ChessBoard.class not found."
Here's the page that I placed the code into.
