Hello all.

I'm trying to set up Google's Webmaster Tools, and I'm stuck at verification. What is the preferred method of inserting the HTML code into the site? I'm a complete idiot with this stuff! This is one of the methods:

HTML tag
Add a meta tag to your site's home page.
1. Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site's home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.
Show me an example
<html>
<head>
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="Lti0LgN1rCMYleFUxsmFVrQ6LMb-GYYvpsvEmWUgkjA" />
<title> My title </title>
</head>
<body>
page contents
</body>
</html>
2. Click Verify below.
To stay verified, don't remove the meta tag, even after verification succeeds.

This is another method:

HTML file upload
Upload an HTML file to your site.
1. Download this HTML verification file. [googlee76c41c2b1a3772c.html]
2. Upload the file to http://www.90dbband.com/
3. Confirm successful upload by visiting http://www.90dbband.com/googlee76c41c2b1a3772c.html in your browser.
4. Click Verify below.
To stay verified, don't remove the HTML file, even after verification succeeds.

How do I accomplish this? Exactly where do these files get uploaded to on my site?

Thanks,

Bob Burke

All I do is paste the code into a blank page and name it google_verification.html. No other code on the page.
Then upload it to your site any where. Probably the root would be best, and point Google webmaster tools to it's location.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Place it where the index.html page is at.
In your case name your page like google is suggesting.
googlee76c41c2b1a3772c.html
and upload it to there.

How are you adding the file to your site?
In VSD goto "Add Files"
then click on the {Root}
then click on the "Add files" icon at the bottom left.
Now browse to your google doc.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

That's what I did Eric. Then I save and publish to S-Drive, go to Google Webmaster Tools, click Verify, and it still fails. Does it take some time to register or something?

I would dbl check your files as it's not there.
