Good Image. Copy. Paste. Bad Image....

I have an optimized image on my home page that is part of a group. Image, text and some background color. When I preview the page in any one of several browsers, it looks perfect. I copy the group and paste it to another page. When I view it in any one of several browsers, the image is skewed. It looks as if it's been slit in two horizontally with the top part shifted slightly right.

I deleted the group, saved and re-did the copy and paste...same thing.

Any clue as to what could be wrong?

I'm a newbie and my site is not up yet, what do you all need to see in order to offer assistance?

Catherine - are there any effects on the images (like a drop-shadow)? Are any of them PNGs? When you copy/paste an image in VSD, it copies everything within the image's bounding box. For example, a picture with a drop-shadow on a striped background, when copied to another page will have some of that striped background around it (enough to display the drop-shadow). If the image is a PNG with transparent areas those will be filled in by background when copy/pasted - VSD basically takes a "snapshot" of the PNG and it gets pasted as a JPEG.

I try to avoid copy/pasting, but if I do (a menu is an exception), I remove any effects from the item, and add them back on page by page so only the actual item gets copied (no background). I also have different versions of some graphics saved (like logos) so if I need a smaller/larger one, I insert from the original file rather than copying it and changing the size in VSD. This keeps my PNG files from getting messed up.

Could you post a screenshot to show us what's going on?

Catherine, You could publish your site to your S-drive account just for testing and diagnostics. That way we could get a good look at it.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Dear paintbrush and Eric,

I'm back from a business trip out of the country. Thanks to both of you for the help.

paintbrush: the problem was my glow effect infringing upon my image. I cut back the glow and the image looks great now.

Eric: next time I'll know to use S-drive.

Catherine is now Sane in Vermont! :D
