Been trying to upload my website for the last two days and I continue to get the message "error occurred while uploading". I have no idea what's going on. It would help if VSD gave some hints, The word "error" is extremely vague.
I've tried all the items mentioned in the manual. Running in passive mode, checked all ftp settings, adjusted firewall settings. Nothing works.
The website is http://www.lancastermommy.com
You can tell that the website is partially uploading but the process never stops at the same point. Sometimes it will stall on the image uploads and sometimes it will stall on the page uploads.
My wife is really breathing down my neck about this one.
Oh yeah, we just recently upgraded to Windows 7, last week, We have successfully uploaded several times since then however.

Thanks, I did. Just uploaded the site manually using Filezilla. Everything went smoothly. This should keep my wife sated for the moment but that "upload" button is really easy for her.
I noticed after my last VSD update that I ocassionaly encounter a situation where VSD and CC FTP client will not upload anything. My fix has been to re-boot. Works every time!

I have used VSD for a year or so and have never had any problems uploading to my hosting server. About 2 months ago I updated my version. Since then I have been unable to get a connection. I have also tried through Direct FTP. Still no luck. I have looked searched all the forums and tried various things. I authorized port 21 on my wireless router, checked the firewall permissions on McAfee and set them for full access, changed my hosting password several times, etc. Still no luck uploading. I have changed from satellite internet to cable internet and no change. It worked fine and then one day it didn't.
The error I get using VSD ftp program is usually the:
220 Microsoft FTP Service
331 Password required for xxxx
530 User xxxx cannot login
I have verified the user and password like a gazillion times and they are correct.
I am running Vista and hosting through GoDaddy.com. I have tried every trick mentioned that I could find and still no luck with getting a connection to the server. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Robert,
Something similar happened to me. Everything was fine with my ftp client but not with the "upload" button. After ten million retries It worked, and now is OK. What I did was entering my password with an uppercase as first letter - although it is NOT uppercase in the server settings - and I did'nt drink or smoke anything.
I can only attibute this to a complex mechanism of black magic and retroviral curses affecting some password bytes that Scott does not like. But it works for me...

I can no longer upload through CC VSD for no reason whatsoever - 'An error occurred during upload' comes up again and again. Very frustrating.
Hiya Debbie, Not sure I can help here, but more information would help others that can.
Windows version, VSD version, Error message you are receiving when trying to upload.

Hi Chris,
Have you double checked your info settings? could you possibly check using an external ftp client such as filezilla or direct ftp or free ftp just to see if it connects. You can also use these to upload your website if you still can't connect thru the internal ftp in VSD.
Is the error stopping on an image or document?
did you make a change of some sort, and try to remove the change to see if it uploads? sorry for so many questions.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
