How can I create a sidebar on my site? One that I can add to every page, on the right side? Or do I just create a long shape and add widgets, etc over it?

Take a look at this site if that's what your looking for. Otherwise maybe something simple like this is what your after.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Well, not the first one. I can't quite tell what the second one is. I basically want a long segment along the right side of the page where I can add widgets for social plugins, and my online store, etc. But it would be nice if I could just create the sidebar somewhere (adding all the stuff I need) and then just "add html" wherever I want it on my page (which would be along the right side from top to bottom maybe).
Is that clear? Maybe I should post an example.

So you want it contained within the page?

Yes! Actually, on that first site, what they have on the right side...with all those ads. Something like that. I just wanted it somehow neater than sticking a bunch of widgets on the right side. I tried creating a long shape and putting things on top, but it didn't look right. Still too messy somehow.

It'll take a little while to get that much content to look good. Just keep playing with placing other shapes of different colors or textures behind a few of the widgets to group them.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

ok. Haha, I guess that's the way to do it. I figured it would be TOO easy if there were such a thing: sidebar creator!
Is there a way, once I create something I like, to copy that part of my page so I can easily transfer it exactly how it is to all my other pages?

Tanya,
One way (if you haven't already created your whole site and are just now editing it that is) is to create your main content page (something that the rest of the pages can be modeled after) and then use that page as the base for the rest of them. I don't use VSD so I am not sure exact how that is done, but I'm sure some others here can tell you how to use a page as the base for the rest.
This would allow you to create your side menu how you want it on one page, and then use that same page as the base for the rest (some kind of way of duplicating that page) so you don't have to redo it on each page.
You might want to suggest that side bar setup in the suggestions forum for VSD too, that actually sounds like it might be a nice addition to the tools for the program. Worse they can do is say no right?

Yeah, site is already created. Good idea...will go suggest it!
