I’m trying to publish a single test page from within Visual Site Designer.

All looks to be going well until… it states that

“Connection lost to the server”, but also asks if I want view the 'uploaded' site.

Finally it gives up and says, “Visual Site Designer was unable to establish a connection…[etc]”

The internet connection is fine. The firewall is switched off. The antivirus is switched off. CoffeeCup S-Drive is the only publishing destination listed in VSD. I tried uploading the individual files to the S-drive directly, but the page still won’t work (but at least the outlines of the images are there).

What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you have done everything correctly. Please open a support ticket and we will try a few other things for you. When you open the ticket, reference this forum post as well.
