I have two problems.

Firstly VSD is occasionally creating duplicates of certain image files each time I save. Then when I resync it uploads all. This takes longer and longer each time.

Secondly, to clear out all the duplicates mentioned above I moved the folder VSD created folder containing the files folder and the html files out the way to my desktop The intenion was to resave and therefore rid myself of the duplicates. I forgot to resave. I relocated the original folder and all its contents exactly where I had moved it from and now when I open the site using VSD i get the message that certain files cannot be found even though when I look at the address specified they are there. Why can't VSD see them? ....Other images are found. The addresses are correct.

I have a site with about 150 pages and 4000 odd images so this is a major headache

My missing images problem has been sorted. - operator error

The duplicates, triplicates of images etc are still there ....any ideas what is causing them and the best way to clear them out

I'm not 100% sure here if this is what the situation is for you or not, but I do know from seeing other posts about images, that VSD uses a separate image for each instance. In other words, unlike an HTML page where you can reference one image for all locations, VSD creates a new image for each place it's used (not sure if it's each place or each page, but each page for sure has it's own images). Could this be your situation maybe?
