Can you (we) do this?

The person I design a website for (using coffee cup visual site designer) wants to know if I can do this same interactive-ness for their website (flash)?:rolleyes:

http://www.thealumnimusic.com/

I don't believe I can execute it in the time it takes vs the time I actually have to do it. Additionally, I presume a completely vamped up flash site is a lot of maintenance.:(:(

But my bottom dollar question is - can coffee cup do this? :D

Although I don't use VSD, I'm going to hazzard a guess here that I don't think you can do that at all with VSD as that type of site looks like a fully flash based site which takes a lot more work than what VSD could do. Just guessing here of course, but it's more than just inputting a little flash here and there, the whole site looks like a flash site to me.

That is a flash based website, which involves no more maintenance than an html website. Nothing CoffeeCup produces will allow you to create a website like that, properly. And please, never assault your website visitors with blaring noise like that. Give them the option to listen.

Thanks goodness I found the OFF button, Tom. ;)

BTW, as far as I've heard, flash is on its way out...

That's only because Steve Jobs doesn't like it.

That's my point. You shouldn't have to find the off button, only the on button. :)

I don't see Flash going anywhere anytime soon.

Be sure to tell your client ipad and iphone users will see nothing at all if the site is all Flash. Not to mention, a lot of people hate splash pages and intros - they want to get straight to what they're looking for.
As for VSD, if you want to add a little "drama" to the site, you could put a slide show in the header (use a ready made script and add your own photos/graphics). And there's the CC Jukebox to put music on your site - But Please - Make it optional. Not everyone wants the boss to know they're cruising the internet rather than doing actual work!

I like that Paintbrush. I'll have to use it.

"I want some flash that makes things swirl around and has lots of cool swirly sounds, and make something follow the mouse around too, and don't forget the background music, oh, and we must have a hit counter, and something that counts down to something...."

Do you really need all that drama? :D

Tom, you forgot spinning globes and waving flags! Rainbow gradients! Who needs Flash when there's so much that can be done with animated gifs! I just love those honking-big hit counters, too... 98 visitors in 10 years!!! Oh, the good old days before it was Flash, Flash and more Flash!

Hulasista - back on topic - convince your client that "less is more", let the content take center stage, and try not to annoy the site's visitors too much!
