How did you get your money back on used software?
I requested it 2 days after I bought it. One thing I can say about Adobe, this is the 2nd time I've had to get a refund from them and they gave me no trouble at all either time. Keeps me going back to them for software since I know they stand behind their products that well

Thanks everyone for sharing your info.I am not a computer person so I always seem to need help with something.
I already have a website that our oldest daughter did for me six years ago but I need to create a new one with updated photos ,info, and thats easier to navigate and loads quicker.
My website is pollardbitsandspurs.com
What I have in mind that I would like to do is have more catagories for the different styles that I do such as: cutting style spurs, roping style, gal legs, etc. Instead of having different pages for each style,I would drather you be able to scroll down the page for that style.
What I am not sure about is if it would be better to make thumbnails from my pictures that can be clicked on for a larger view or use pictures that are about the same size as currently used but compressed better? Is 72 dpi the best to use for size?
I have no need for a page to place online orders or to make purchases from so I do not need a shopping cart. I guess what I need is pretty much a basic site.
All help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.Danny

I have had Adobe Photo Shop Elements since version 1 and I have NEVER heard of this or ever dealt with it. Mine never tries to open the web when I start it and never did. Did you buy yours? or is it the trial version trying to get you to buy the full version?
Photo Shop is one of the most used photo editing software out there. If it did what you said, I would think there would be a lot less users than there are.

If you have NEVER heard of this or ever dealt with it. Then you have not tried their latest gift to their customers. I went to their website to see if there was some way to turn off the security login at the startup being I am the only one to use the program. It is posted on their website that there is no way to turn it off like in the older versions.
I do believe Adobe is losing customers and I did complain to Adobe customer service about it and told them that I was going with PaintShop Photo Pro because of that very issue.
Why do they need to know every time I edit a photo and where I am when I do it? I don't want them keeping track of me. That crap invades the customer's privacy and is not welcome at all.
And yes I am sure other software is doing the same thing. If they want to track me then the software should be FREE…. There are at lest two other venders (PaintShop Photo and Serif Photo Shop) with just as good of software so we do not have to use their product that cost twice the price.
Sorry about the rant. I just hate to see people fall victim of good marketing.
Nah it's not a matter of falling victim, it's a matter of what bothers us. Doesn't bother me to sign in really, I don't blame them at all for trying to keep track with all the piraters out there stealing software how can you blame a company for trying to make sure that only those with legit logins are using their software?
Anyways, yes I do understand your reasoning, and many people will look at it both ways and that's ok, just for me I guess I just don't care enough to worry about it. Now if it were some Joe Blow nobody software that I didn't know the name of and they were doing that, then yes that would bother me as I wouldn't know if I should trust them or not, but I've used Adobe products for many years as have billions of others, so hopefully that tells me I can trust them to a fair degree

Programs phoning home. More and more do that.
I choose to log in, or not, when I use Elements. No big deal.

CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
I made it as far as PS Elements 5, but prefer version 3, and rather than upgrade any more I finally splurged on the Adobe Design Suite. Anyway... it's been awhile since I paid attention to Elements releases, but it seems that their moving to "the cloud", so you wouldn't have to buy a disc or even have to down-load software, you just subscribe then log-in to use the program.
If you try out Coffee Cups S-Drive, you can get a taste of cloud computing - your site, files, photos are "in the cloud", you don't depend on your computer or any physical software or even FTP to get to your stuff. Instead, you subscribe then use your username/password from any internet-connected device to access everything.
I think Adobe realizes the photo album software that came with Elements just doesn't cut it these days. People already use (and trust) on-line services like Flickr. They want to send stuff to their Facebook page from anywhere, rather than having to put it on the home computer first, then edit, then save, then send.
A lot of smaller laptops (and netbooks) and of course IPads don't even have disc drives.
Anyway, another great graphics program is Xara Designer Pro (http://www.xara.com/us/)
Photo editing, vector graphics, web elements all in one package

Very interesting stuff. You just said more about S-Drive than CC did!! I now understand it a little bit more. Not sure if I am crazy about it either. I do not like the idea of having to pay a monthly fee for life to get something. This to me falls under the catagorie of greed. Why should I pay for a service monthly when I may not use it for six months. Very unfair. Now that I know how they intend to run S-Drive I will stay as far away from it as I can.

I am using Elements 6 and it does not have the log-in stuff. So I do apologize. I too get a little huffy when software people make my life misserable with all the login stuff. Do you have to log in EVERY time you load up the software or is it just a one time thing? All the time would be very anoying. Good reason to stay away from upgrades, in my opinion.
I have one software company that makes a stainglass software. If your computer crashes it is next to impossible to get the program back on your computer. You have to go online and beg them for a new serial number. They do not believe you that your computer crashed, they think you are putting the software on another computer; "We will do this one more time Mr. Alford, after that your on your own". Needless to say, I never upgrade their software, I went with someone else.
Another good graphic software is Gimp, I think it is open source and it is free.

Steven, that makes no sense my friend. If you have a hosting account with anyone, you are paying a monthly fee. I am sure they are not giving it to you free of charge. We don't call that "greed" we call that business. We are providing a valuable service for a reasonable price. I don't think you still have fully grasped the concept of S-Drive yet.

Scott - you beat me to it! I already pay every month for my hosting. And, I have to keep all my photos and files in one location and FTP everything from that location to make changes. Cloud computing gives us one place to put everything, then pull from it as needed, anywhere, anytime. Don't have to remember if the photo I want is on the lap-top or the desk-top, it's available to me from what ever internet connected device I'm using. I don't see why I would pay for traditional web hosting, but not pay for this service?
***and having experienced a hard drive crash - it's nice to know my stuff is not dependent on how healthy my computer is. Now I have files all over the place on various back-up drives. I'll gladly pay for hosting that also keeps all my stuff in one easy to access area!
