I just purchased Virtual Designer 7.0 and I am not sure if the photos I will be using for my website can be resized and compressed using this software or do I need to use a photo software program to do this so I can post to my website?
If I need a photo software program, any recommendations?
Thanks for any help.

I would suggest you do that in your graphics program. Visual Site Designer can re-size images but it is really not meant to be a graphics editor. You will get much better results by performing that in your graphics program.

Photo Shop Elements is good for that. It will cost you $100.
For resizing though, you can google "Windows Power Toys" and look for the Power toys that match your version of windows. One of the power toys is a picture resizer that gets added to your Windows Exployer. So that when you right-click on a picture there is an option to Resize the picture. Works great but I don't think it compresses.
Your other option is to get Coffee Cups Pix Convertor.

There's also a really nice tool called E Z Thumbnails which the main need for the program is for creating thumbnails ( of really good quality I might add ), but it also does mass resizing of images for any size as well as letting you add extra text to the names such as _tn for thumbnails or whatever you want to add.
The thing about this program is that it's not a super puter hog like the big image editors are. Loads really fast, very small footprint on the system and a pretty powerful little image sizing tool.
you can get that at http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/ and it's free too

Quick tip from an avid VS desiigner user, put all your page together using the drag and resize option in the program,
Once happy with layout design etc. click on each picture in turn and then the object icon, a box pops up with the image size included
use your other program to make the image to that size, and delete the original, and replace it with the re-sized one.
And what about photogallery, FREE download to resize pictures if you want them all one size !,, or pix converter

Good info there Viv, since I don't use the program, I didn't know that you could get the sizes that easy so that's a great tip and I'll try to remember that for the future too. Thanks much for sharing that

I tried out Photo Shop for a couple of weeks and then tried out PaintShop Photo Pro X3. They both work just as good; only the names of the tools are changed a little. But still the same. PaintShop Photo Pro X3 won my testing because of the ease of use. And PaintShop Photo Pro X3 is half the cost and you don't have to jump through hoops to buy it like you do with the Adobe Photo Shop.
Adobe Photo Shop tries to con/fool you in to believing you have to setup an account on their server and use their storage drive on their website. Plus if you like you can pay Adobe 20 bucks a month for the drive space (what a deal when Google docs is free). Big Con job if you ask me. You don't really have to sign up for all that crap but they sure make you think you have to. The Adobe program will try to force you to log in to the Adobe website every time you start the program.. What a pain in the rear. I guess it is a good way to make sure you only have it installed on one computer.
Try out the free trial of both programs before you buy the Adobe photo shop elements. I have no doubt that you will feel like Adobe is trying to scam you and I believe you will go with PaintShop Photo Pro X3 just because of that. Also, keep in mind that both programs are memory hogs, so be sure to use the free trial to make sure you can use it.
Oh, one other thing I noticed. I downloaded both programs from the programmers’ website not a third party. After a couple of weeks without buying they started sending me discounted prices.
I almost forgot. Don't pay extra for the video. Just go to Youtube, there are millions of videos on both programs.

I have had Adobe Photo Shop Elements since version 1 and I have NEVER heard of this or ever dealt with it. Mine never tries to open the web when I start it and never did. Did you buy yours? or is it the trial version trying to get you to buy the full version?
Photo Shop is one of the most used photo editing software out there. If it did what you said, I would think there would be a lot less users than there are.
nah it doesn't open the web, it just has a login box in the program now that you need to use your Adobe login info for so that they can verify you have the right to use the program. Seems a lot of things, even some of the high end games are starting to do that. I have version 7 and to be honest it's no where near as nice for text effect layers as version 2 is so I sit with a copy of version 7 that I never use lol. Course I have Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 also so between them I get what I need done.
I tried PSPP X3 but it wouldn't work for crap for me so I got my money back. Not sure what was wrong, but it wouldn't stay working, would just shut down after about 2 or 3 minutes and if it did by chance stay open, which wasn't often, it would take forever for anything I pressed to take effect so I gave up on it. Some people say it works great for them so who knows.
