So far I've been able to create button in VSD, but now would like to create ones that appear to "depress" when clicked on. Can someone give me tips on how to do that?

You can't :-( But you can do a very similar 'mouse-over' effect, which means if the mouse hovers over a button a second 'depress' button is shown. How to do this?

First make some button. Then you make a mouse-over (sort of underlying) button by choosing
'mouseover' in the toolbar, then click 'create'. The mouse-over button has been made and is shown now, and you can give this button a 'depress' look by choosing 'effect' in the toolbar and there flag shadow. The best result for a 'depress' effect is to choose an 'inner' effect, but just play with all possibilities until you're satisfied. The result you can't see in the design mode (the mode you're working in), but only in preview mode!
