Hi,
I would like to apply an image outside the main 1024x768 website. I know I can set a colour using background fill properties and this works fine. However, if I use this option and apply a graphic and not a colour it only applies it to the page I'm currently viewing and not all pages in the website.
Can anyone help?
thanks
Martin

Can you apply the graphic to the background properties for the site and upload it so we can see it?

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

This is weird - I've just had the same thing happen. My browser background has been there, just fine for all pages (for a few years). Today I changed my favicon and re-published. Now the background only shows around the index page and it's plain white for all other pages.
(Win7, VSD&-18, site link is below)
I have re-loaded the image file and went page by page doing the Settings - Background Fill Properties - Use Image. When I view the source code online, the image is there, but still only displays around the home page. I tried removing the favicon files and code. Still nothing

Martin, I don't know if this will help your situation, but I got my background back - not through anything within VSD, though. I went to my hosting/server control panel and used their file upload feature to grab my background file. VSD showed the image in it's files, my server files showed the image already there; but until I uploaded it from my control panel it wouldn't display.
Now it's back in place and I was able to put the favicon back as well.
So, make sure you've added the background image in the Settings, added the file under Edit > Add Image, so VSD says everything is there. Then try uploading just the bkgrnd image through an outside FTP program or from your hosting contol panel.
If that doesn't do it, you should put in a support ticket so the Pros can have a look
Maybe this is some sort of build 7.18 bug?

I've had this problem before myself, I've always just went to the add files, to add the image, so it's outside the files folder and it's worked.
( If i have chosen a background image at the start and it didn't show up.)

I know what's causing my problem, I've got a css menu and every page that the menu is on the background doesn't work!!!!
Every page the menu isn't on the page works fine.
Every page the menu isn't on the page works fine.
I tried the 'Add Files' right away, but that still didn't work. The image showed up in the VSD Files folder, my server files and in the source code when viewed online, but only a solid white background showed around the site. So I had to go outside of VSD and upload the background image.
I just wondered about it having something to do with build 18. When I first upgraded to VSD7, my slideshow and roll-over images had to be re-loaded, but all's been fine through 7.14 (I went from 14 to 18).

Martin, could you post a link to a page that shows the background?
Was the background OK before the menu was added? Just wondering, because mine was fine until I added the favicon. So, this seems to have something to do with adding external scripts.

I've changed it back to a solid colour now - just so the site looks ok. It's a commercial site for my business so I can't afford it to look poor.

I'd be interested to know how you generated your edge of page shadow, I'd like to do that as I have done here:

Martin, if you have Photoshop or some other graphics program you can use that to create your page. In Photoshop, make a layer that's larger than your page, fill this with your blue background color. Add a new layer and fill with white. Make this layer the size of your webpage. Add a drop-shadow to this layer. Now flatten the layers and crop the image so enough blue edge is there for the shadow to spread out (don't crop so close that you give the shadow a hard edge). Save for web and under page settings in VSD choose this for the page background. It will be a similar process for other programs.
Here's a page done this way (over a patterned bkgrnd): http://www.elaynas.com
(Mine's a little different, not really a shadow, but a semi-transparent page that the background shows through)
I like the textured blue behind the Photography Blog.
