'An error occurred during upload' -...

I'm on the verge of giving away my CC software as problems like this seem to arise and cause extreme frustration and annoyance and waste so much time.
I am now unable to upload anything via the VSD upload feature. I am not even able to re-sync - I get the same message over and over again. I haven't changed anything on my system so why all of a sudden can I not upload anything? I've done a simple 3-page site - it should be easy but instead I end up with half-uploaded rubbish like this link.
www.debswebs.com.au/pups/index.html
The previews are fine - all works ok and is how I'd like the site to look. The upload makes up its own little layout and completely screws what should be a simple site. One hundred per cent of the time 'An error occurred during upload' message will appear and I'm just about ready to put my fist through the screen with frustration. This has started happening with this version of VSD and is now 100% unreliable. My software is making me look like an absolute idiot! I've not encountered this same problem in any previous version and I'm now scared to do any updates on any of my sites as I cannot upload simple changes without screwing something else up. I'm at my wit's end with this!! Please help!

Answered you in a different thread, please keep your posts to one place rather than multiple posts so we aren't running all over answering the same questions :) Here's what I wrote in the other one and we'll keep them all here so ignore the other one please.

Hiya Debbie,

Not sure I can help here, but more information would help others that can.

Windows version, VSD version, Error message you are receiving when trying to upload.

Also when you're having this much difficulty, it's best to put in a support ticket (click the get support link at the menu) and talk with Support before getting so frustrated. Could be they may have been able to help you before you put in so much time trying to fix it yourself :)

Hi Debbie,
When you add images into your website offline of course and save your project, VSD places all the images in a folder called "files". I looked at your about page and the images for that page are in a folder called" pup/files" and not within the "files" folder, hense they are not showing up.
Have you tried an external ftp like filezilla or direct ftp and upload that way?

Bruzer makes a very good point. I would also try turning off any virus/spyware/firewall software and then then reinstalling the software. Make sure you have the LATEST build of version 6. Another option: CC tech support can actually get onto your system and take control of your mouse and fix your problem for you. They are quite good at what they do :-)

Upload Link Problem - files not found

I have a problem that seems to be getting worse. Everytime I upload, even after making a tiny change, I get "file not found" message on many different links on the page. The message is looking for these files in the Download folder and they are not there. I have to relink each one of them to the file I originally linked to (not in Download folder, somewhere else on my computer). At first it was just a couple files, but now it's getting to be like 15 files I have to relink every time I want to upload. Really annoying. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem??

Hi Christine,
If you have a text highlighted, then the "link to a document" button on the little window that pops up, this should make a copy of the document in the downloads folder just save when your done making your links then upload. Or is this how you have been doing it...:)

I am having similar problem as the title of the thread right now. i am currently on VSD version 7.0 build 24

i had moved my files around on my computer
i relinked all of my documents
i added them through the "add files" function

upon upload, its telling me file cannot be found and on the site, i get the error page.

i re-synced the site and did it all over again and still had the same problem

this has happened a total of 3 times

i'm at a lost. :(

Hulasista have you checked your hosting account because if you are lucky the original backup that VSD automatically produses will still be there, and if you have failed to upload hopefully it will be intact

I would suggest adding a new folder to your desktop and download a copy of the backup using CC free ftp or if you have direct FTP you will be able to check the contents of the folder on your server to see if it is intact before downloading it

If this works make a backup on your pc before making any changes.

This tells me that you still have a file linked that you added to your site that was moved or deleted from its original location when you actually added to VSD.
Write down the location when VSD tells you it can't find the file and either put the file back in this location or go to "Edit" "Remove files" and browse through the list and remove the reference link to it.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

the location is the download folder. i tested placing files in that folder and the links STILL don't recognize the files in that folder.

i also did that "remove files" function. upload was a breeze. still don't get error message (in browser) (these are all word files, btw).

Eric - what do you mean by "remove the reference link" to it? are you saying re-do all the links over? (there's over 100 links).

Viv... - I dont understand what you mean by [original] back up file :(

i also tried another tip i read in another thread, which was, open each page one at a time in vsd and saving it.

*sigh*
