Has anyone installed Visual Lightbox successfully? I'm just experimenting on a template till I get it figured out.

Per the instructions on their FAQ section of their website, I pasted the asked for code in the head and body sections respectively. But the gallery is showing up in the header..... The directions are confusing (for me). One says to past the code, which is what I did. Another says that when you pubish, open the page you want it on and click where you want it - similiar to putting in flash or html in VSD.

The images code is outside the container. Don't you have to have your mouse located where you want to insert the code using the html tool, or something like that?
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Amy - How did you paste the code in the body section? Did you use the HTML tool to draw a box on the page where you want the Lightbox to display?

Paintbrush: Pasted code in HTML editor. Ah, yes! But the head code should be done in HTML editor?

Tom: Yes, those directions are there - that confuses me... The directions say to past the code in the page. OK. Then is says to click on the page where you want it to appear, and those directions are in two separate places. Perhaps if I do what Paintbrush is suggesting? I'll try it.

Hiya Amy, did you get it worked out? Sorry was gone all day. I have a lot of Visual Lightbox on a sight right now, about 11 or 12 pages of it lol. Worked out pretty slick, but not done with it yet. Here's what I did:

In the page you plan to add the code put this line in the spot you are adding it. Keep in mind that the program is going to either insert it before or after the line and sometimes splits it up, but it will give you something to search for in the page after it's done to know exactly where the code is. After it has put the code in, double check to make sure it's where you want it, and then delete the line you added (keeping in mind you may need to delete part before and part after if it split it up on ya which it does a lot lol)

ENTER VISUAL LIGHTBOX CODE HERE

That's it. Run the program, tell it to put the code in for you and it will open the window and ask you what page to put it on. Navigate to that page and it will open the page and just click on the page and let it highlight the above line. At the bottom it has a button saying something like Insert Before... press that button. Press the button to insert the code and it's done. Sweet simple and all you do is remove your line above that you use to make sure it's in the right place :)

NOW comes the hard part. Because you are using VSD you will need to do this a little different. I haven't tried this so bare with me since I don't use VSD, but here's what I theorize would work:

Get the code from the page you want it on and put that code into a text editor. If you have the HTML Editor that is even easier because you can just do a generic HTML page instead of getting your page code. Once you have the page code or the generic page follow the above instructions.

Now... in VSD you will need to use your HTML Tool (at least I think it is that one since I'm not sure how scripts other than HTML are added and I think this is either javascript or jquery. Unfortunately you'll have to figure out "where" to insert that code as that part I'm not sure about as I don't use VSD sorry.

Hello All and Happy Holidays,
I tried Visual Lightbox This way:
http://www.myofficialnewbie.com/tutorials/VLB.html
But 1 draw back is it can't be previewed because I didn't add the 2 folders ito VSD I just uploaded them sepereately. And also there is no need to add the favicon as I did in this video.
Hope it helps.

Have A Merry Christmas & New Year

Very nice, Bruzer - Thanks for doing that!:D
I don't know what's in the folders that get uploaded, so maybe this isn't practical, but for those that want to do everything within VSD (don't have a separate FTP), whatever... Use the Add Files in the Edit menu (VSD7; it's under Settings in VSD6), browse to select what you need and VSD will make sure it gets uploaded with the rest of your files.

With most galleries, slideshows, etc... it's pretty simple to get them into VSD. You'll get some code for the header - Edit>Edit Header, some html code - either use the HTML tool or Flash tool depending on the program to draw out the placeholder for the item, then add all associated files through the Add Files dialogue.

Okay, got the gallery displaying correctly by adding several <br> and a <center> and it looks good. I published the gallery which created an index page with the HTML needed to copy and past in my gallery.html. Did not have to use the HTML tool in VSD, just pasted the <head> and <body> HTML with HTML editor as instructed by VLB. Didn't have to tell it where on the page with VSD.

However.... now I've lost the ...... elasticity of the page. When the page is widened or made smaller the
logo and links do not expand and shrink with it. Perhaps I put the head HTML in the wrong place in <head> section?

Any suggestions?

Elasticity? VSD pages are fixed size, absolute positioned - not elastic or fluid. Is the Lightbox gallery fluid/elastic? I see your page size is 960px wide, the lightbox is 995px wide. Maybe you should make this one page wide enough to contain the entire lightbox (around 980 or so to have some space around it). You could also try inserting the LB with the HTML tool (make the html box the same size as the LB), then you'd have some control over where it sits on the page; if it needs to move down or up for example.

It looks really nice, I've been using Jalbum galleries, will have to check this out :)

Looks nice Amy, seems like you're missing the ends of the green ribbon band between the header and content though, not sure if that's what it should look like, just seems like the ends are cut off and missing something there. Looks like you're getting the hang of it though. The code looks like it's placed like it should be, but I don't use VSD so I dunno what's best ways for doing that part. Nice job on it though, love the stairways :)
