If you have version 3 and 5.9.1 installed at the same time, that definately can be the cause of the problem.

No, I didn't have them install at the same time, I uninstall the 5.9.2 and install 3.0 to see if it would work and it did, then I uninstall the 3.0 and install the 5.9.2 back

That is very strange. Version 3.0 had so many issues that we fixed in later builds. I think we have tried the register.exe and the zip file. The only thing I can think of is for the version 3.0 your firewall or anti-virus is allowing that exe to run without any issues but the new version it is still blocking.

I just got the following from Coffeecup support.... Havn't tried it yet...but I'll let you know if it works..

We have recently noticed that some of our customers have had some trouble uploading with the new version of Visual Site Designer, Our developers have looked into this and have found the source of the problem, and they are working to very hard to correct it. Until they do we have created a temporary fix, you will need to first make sure that Visual Site Designer is closed, then download the zip file at ( http://www.perezcreations.com/vsd_ftp_fix.zip ), extract the zip file, then run the "Registration.dat" file and simply click OK twice to install the two necessary files.

If you are still not quite sure how to do so, this quick video should help. ( You will need Quicktime to view the video )

I just downloaded the free trial version of VSD 5.9.3 and am unable to upload a trial, 1-page site I created. Hence, I came to this forum for help.

Referencing the above-quoted information from CC support, my biggest question is: Why are you offering a version with known FTP bug as the trial version, without any sort of notice to the prospective customer? Do you think this inspires my confidence in your product or your customer service? Quite the contrary.

Anyway, I have spent a good 2 hours fiddling with the FTP information in VSD and still can't get it to work. I am trying to upload a single page to a new-to-me host (the account has been validated, and I have been given the go-ahead to upload). However, I have found VSD's "help" files too sketchy to be of any use. (In fact, the error message I was getting referenced "File > Misc. > Internet Connections," which is a path that doesn't even exist!) For example, I couldn't even get a test connection to run until I read on this forum that you MUST fill in a profile name. Gee, it sure doesn't look that way, with the "Profile" box grayed out until you click on it.

I have the correct host name, login name, and password in the correct boxes. I have tried various "WWW" entries, including public_html (which is what my host told me to use), /public_html and just "/". Still nothing.

Is there anything else I can try? Any very basic information I need to know about uploading from VSD, such as "You can't have the webpage open in VSD when you upload."?

Thanks in advance. If I can't get this program working this evening, I'm giving up and trying something else.

And, no; I am not going to all the work of downloading a zip file, installing another bit of code, yaddayaddayadda. Sheesh.

The path name really depends on your ISP on their naming convention. The "common" one is indeed just "public_html", without any leading slash.

Are you comfortable using a standalone FTP program? There is no rule saying you "have" to use the built-in one. It makes uploading changes easier, that's about it. Personally, I don't use it myself.
