Whatever Godaddy tells you. Typically a / will be what you need. Some servers may require public_html

I was not amused to find out that I have to depend on VSD to upload my files. I would rather have the program create HTML files that I can upload myself. I am having a problem connecting to my host (bluehost.com), and frankly, I don't even know (nor does the software explicitly say) what information to put in the blanks of the "Upload" dialog box.

To be fair, bluehost doesn't make it entirely clear what info I'm supposed to use because I have multiple domain names "added on" to my original domain name. Then again, I set up a new username and password with bluehost specifically for the website I'm trying to set up with VSD and when I entered that info into the VSD Upload dialog box and pressed "Test," nothing happened--no test was run.

I'm kind of frustrated and starting to regret my purchase of VSD. Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong?

Hello
I am having the same problem the software will make HTML files that you can manual upload using your FTP. To test or upload using VSD go to Settings then to FTP Setting when the dilog box open wher it say FTP Server: I place my domain name or numbers I use numbers myself (00.00.00.0) Username: & Password: type in the user name and password you use to login to your account, where it say WWW I use /public_html, Profile: you need to click save and type in a profile name it can be anything, click ok and run test. in the connection box the name you use in profile should be in the box.. good luck

But you are NOT dependent on VSD to upload your files. When you do a SAVE, it create a folder called your_vnu_filename.vnu_website and that contains all the necessary HTML and image files (in a folder called files). You can then use any FTP program to upload them to your website.

The only downside of using a separate FTP package is that YOU have to keep track of file changes, and if you added/removed images, you likely have to re-upload all the files since VSD uses its own naming system ...

Thanks, Jim. I didn't realize that regular HTML files were created. I was able to upload my site with Core Lite FTP. Thanks for your help. I'll just do that instead of using VSD to upload.

In version 5.9.2 there is a file called register.exe in the Visual Site Designer folder. Can you run that, reboot and then see if it works.

I would check your firewalls next. Also try checking if passive on or off works under your ftp settings too.
