From what I've run across in other apps, this is usually an issue that needs editing in the registry. I've never seen an installation problem due to fragmentation. I ran across a similar error, but for different apps & scenario. Worth looking into though:

Must warn it's always a risk to manually edit the registry (for those not familiar).

I had to test that out now that you mentioned the taskbar. If you run Color Schemer within HTML Editor, it changes the taskbar description from HTML Editor to ColorSchemer 3.0. Once you close ColorSchemer, however, it stays as ColorSchemer, even though HTML Editor is the only thing open. Interesting. I wouldn't have noticed because it's cut off in the taskbar, just says "Coffee..."

I wonder if there might be any issue since ColorSchemer is already installed in HTML Editor and then you try to install it as a standalone, since you said those two are the only problematic installs.

When the CPU was 100%, did you check to see if the .EXE that was hogging the cpu was actually CoffeeHTML2006R.exe? If it was another .exe, that might help narrow down a conflict.
