Hi, my name is Betty. I live in the beautiful state of Oregon. I recently graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting at the ripe old age of 54. Several years ago, I learned to build websites using HTML but never got to use it much. I do remember enough of it to read some of the code and do simple stuff.

My boyfriend has a business and I volunteered to do his website. Qwest set him up with the website address and such. They also have a very limited and cumbersome site editor. I ask if we could get to the code so we could add tags and such but they said we couldn't without buying some other software. I found the coffee cup site and have purchased probably way more than I need, but am having trouble even getting started.

I hope everyone will be kind and patient as I ask lots of questions.

I guess it is about time I started at the beginning:o. Since, as usual, I started in the middle with questions. Been running before I walked since I was a baby. Don't ask why. I guess it is the way my brain sorta works.

Anyway, I'm a beginner and have been trying various methods to get my website published since ms publisher refused to let me publish anywhere but msn.com. We're hosted with Go Daddy right now and thanks to s-drive I'm finally up and running. It is a primative design but it is on the web at levandowsky.com. I have no tags on it at the moment, but it is out there at last and thanks to you all.

I'm an agricultural Industry major with a minor in animal husbandry that loves art and technology. I can only work at it in my "spare" time. A 2500 sqare foot house takes most of my time, hubby comes next , then the dawgs (2 Coonhounds), then sleep, then me.

Oh and there is the religious side between sleep and me. Where I find time to do this kind of thing is (including me) anybody's guess.

I have a newby kindof dumb question: Since my site Levandowsky.com domain name is up and running on Go Daddy, do I need a new domain name to work on with the S-Drive? I'm waiting for hubby to wake up so I can see if we have the funds for VSD which sounds like a dream come true and a great way to redesign the simple site I have up and running.

This has been an exciting week that started in the Coffeecup HTML Editor local help on my PC which referred me here. Then suddenly I have an up and running site. Wow! I am more than anxious to update the site with VSD. Thanks again for your great soft ware and the opportunity to join here as well as the solution to my dilema.

go to your account,
go to domains or manage domains,
clcik the domain in question,
click the edit text link (contextual link) next to "forward",
enter "http://my-coffee-cup-s-drive-name.coffeecup.com",
save it. the entry is the actual path to your s-drive account or "directory"

not actual path, but the "physical URL".. the actual path would be 'ip:port:server path'

Can you explain in layman's terms what I am doing by following your instructions? Does this take the domain off of Go Daddy and put it on S-Drive to host?

well, no.. the domain is at GoDummy, oops , sorry, GoDaddy and it will stay there for ever[lets say].
However, since you control the domain [pay rent to the registrar],
you can point it,
forward it,
host it
[or whatever]
on any server you desire that is connected to the internet.

the domain [example.com] is a 'registered' name, and you point it at what ever 'phone-number' [server-URL] you want, the web site is the answering machine, when the internet user dials up your number [server-URL], the web site answers with all your cool stuff. Neat
you can use nameserver(s) [ns1.example.com,ns2.example.com] to point the name..
or forward the name to the directory on a server http://user-name.example.com/

edit.. there is lots of crud i could add, but you can google this subject and read for weeks,, lol
i think i tend to get into info overload sometimes, what if this or what if that....
