Hi. I would like to edit an existing web site using CoffeeCup's HTML editor. The website was originally created in DreamWeaver. I want to download the pages from the server but I can't seem to get them loaded into the editor page, with all of the links, images and CSS in tact.
Thank you for any help. Melinda

I've never used Dreamweaver but do you have your project directory structure setup the same as Dreamweaver was. More then likely you need all the files and css style sheets if their used in your project folder to get them to show locally during preview.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

That's exactly what you need to do: download the lot. You could do that with an independent FTP client, like CC Direct FTP. Then set it up on your machine, as Eric said, in the same folder structure as you have it on the web.

Thank you Eric and Inger! I was able to download everything and begin editing the pages.
I'm not very good at coding, I can do the basics. Is there a piece of software that is more of a wysiwyg kind of editor?

VSD is more of a wysiwyg (not 100% but about as close as you can get)... Problem is, you can't import html into it, so you'd have to start from scratch.

Thank you Phil. Guess it's time for me to stop being lazy and learn the code.:D

I'm definitely sold on the HTML editor. There's one more thing I want to check before I purchase. I "inherited" this website which came with a CSS attached or maybe inline, I'm not sure. But I've lost the styles in translation. Will I be able to keep the style sheet with the HTML editor?
If anyone would be willing to let me know where the breakdown occurs I'd be very grateful. Mercycrew.org
Thanks

If you lost the styles after moving the files to your pc then your probably using style sheets.:)
Do a search for a document with the ending of.css.
Here's a great site for learning css and everything else having to do with webdesign.:)
