Well, doing a good job posting this thread I am, one add I found other day with that PR0 site. It ranks between 3 and 5 on most keywords in the local niche. [city,kw]@477k competition, but forgot to put the city in front of the keyword and wow! Ranked number 4 out of 21 Million.

this sounds like a really good idea. We have a portfolio of over 100 sites for our customers and are always looking at ways to help them out. SEO is the hardest thing for us as they all want to do well and don't want to pay and then complain when their sites don't work! A place where we could search and offer good links would be great!

We are also interested in this concept. We currently have two sites, unfortunately both of them have low PR and SE - but we are working on it!

http://www.webinetry.com - remodeling/cabinet site
http://www.impresse.us - agency site

I haven't heard back from anyone regarding this idea. We also have another site to obtain links from http://www.msistone.com - this site has a fairly decent page rank. We would be interested in sites that are related to the stone industry.

Thanks!

Robert,

Sorry about not keeping up with this thread. I am not a SEO dude or anything, but just to spit ball a couple of ideas.

1- Use the google keyword tool and look at your competitors site closely. This may give you ideas on content adjustment. Look at the top section of kw's that are most prominent.

2- Look at the directories your competitor is listed in. If position and PR is high on google, the top 20 or so can possibly mean a lot. (you can also buy 'link juice' from yahoo directories for $300 bucks a year-it does help).

3- Set up blogs, use social media, and videos to drive traffic into your site. Make movies with windows movie maker and upload to youtube. It's not that hard and things like tweetlater can make the job much easier.

Some Other Factors:

Do you have good content that's readable or does it look 'spammy'?
On a page, I keep my KW's under 3% if possible. It can be higher for the entire site. Is your content duplicated on the net? Use copyscape to check.

Is the content on your site organized in groups? ie.
/puppy-care/diet/page
/puppy-care/gromming/page

When you have a 404 error(page not found), are you using a 301 redirect to get them to similar content?

Do you have reviews all over the internet about your product? Give happy customers a tiny URL of directories that accept reviews.

If possible, are you listed in google and yahoo local business? It's free.

Do you have kw's in the alt tags with images?

Just throwing out some ideas that I use. There's many more factors to good SEO like H1,H2 tags, kw position on page, bold text, italics, etc.

A couple more factors that are worth the mention and my previous post is amiss if I don't include them.

Domain Name keywords: Can help position on search engines.
ie. puppy-grooming.com vs. puppanomics.com or something.

Page title: Should have kw's. Important.

James,

Thanks for your insight.

Some of them we are doing, but there are a few others that we will try.

Will look into competitors links again.

Thanks,

Robert

Because page rank(PR) often comes up as a factor in SEO, I thought this article might shed some light on PR. http://bit.ly/UHIyi
