One feature at the moment has me puzzled because it does not seem to work.
Has anyone tried to download an html file from the server to the local disk?

If you're referring to "Open from Web" - Yes I've used it before. Just checked it in this version to ensure that it still works, and it does.

Hi
I assume you are using the html editor..
If you select file - open from web and enter your url you wish to download it works fine as Phil has posted.
The latest version is html editor 2009 build 305.
If you still have problems
post another reply and enter the steps you take to produce the problem

Hiya,

I am trying it as I type here and it works just fine if you have a project open and change to the server tab. You can highlight any file on the server or multiple ones even using the cntl+left click of and then right click on one of the highlighted ones and choose the option to "Download to:..." and it works just fine.

Having said that, it doesn't work for things like the htaccess file which I've no idea why, but I did have to do that one manually using DirectFTP instead. I guess it's a special type of file.

I also just tried the Open from Web function (which you can find in the File menu in the top left of the program) and it also worked just fine for me.

I'm guessing that it is a special case file type. BUT, what I did was used DFTP built in editor function. This worked well and kept me from wasting time (like a few sec's from my day really matters ) and test it out quicker.

I guess it will not download .htaccess because there is no file name in front of the dot. It used to be like that also in the old days, if you were making those files manually with a password generator. You had to give them some name first, like text.htaccess and text.htpasswd. Then after upload you had to change the name by removing the 'text'.

Yep thats what I did too Phil and it worked fine, have to admit I kind of like that feature of DFTP.

Didn't think of that naming thing there Inger, that does kind of make sense though. But DFTP works fine for it too :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
