I always update, because I WANT to, not because I'm MADE to!! I guess it's time to check out Bing ...

Microsoft is doing the same and forcing members to upgrade to the latest versions of IE. I believe this is a great step. This means that Web Designers and Developers no longer need to code for outdated browsers.

I don't have a problem with it. The only coding I do for older browsers now is a warning message.
Just because they took a stance where nobody else will doesn't make them a thug. No body's being forced to use Google. It would be different if you didn't have a choice.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I like it. :D
It would be great to drop the vendor prefixing and only have to deal with half a dozen or so browsers.
Whatever it takes to get people to ditch their old (probably virus-infested) browsers and keep up with the times is fine by me.

If Microsoft doesn't offer support for IE 6, 7, 8... why should Google (or anyone) have to develop stuff to work within them?

Send that Nazi flag over to Adobe (for their software subscription rip-off model).

Exactly. We are so tired of people complaining about issues that can always be fixed by upgrading their browser. People love to get upset at Microsoft for bugs in their OS but 99% of the time they can be avoided by just updating to the latest browser.

I hope (and pray) that Google, Microsoft and any other search engine places even more requirements on their users. If you cannot keep up, go back to using a BBS. ;)

I agree with all of that, almost. As I said, I don't mind upgrading and usually get the updates as they come out. I would think most people would. Apparently they don't...

If I want to do something, and it doesn't work, it's my decision to update or not.

I don't agree with a company that actively degrades their service simply because you don't have the latest update. That's a line I don't think should have been drawn. I think they should have just left everything as it was and if a user has an out of date browser and something doesn't work, leave it up to them to upgrade.

On the flip side, if they open a support ticket because something doesn't work, and it's because they don't have the latest version, simply tell them to upgrade, then report back. Then close the ticket. They'll either upgrade or live with the fact that some things will not work. But it's still their choice.

I just don't like a company that takes active action to try and force users to upgrade and/or make changes.

I just installed Bing in my browser. We'll see how that works out . . .

Having said all that now . . .

I've begun my slide to the dark side! Yesterday I caved in and bought RLM!

Let the coding begin . . . :/

Congrats! It really is not as hard as you think it is.

Get you Aha moment out of the way now, and you will be ready for when you know what comes out. :)

Did the Bing Challenge a while back, and was impressed.
