Gunsmoke, get going on the coding... you'll be thanking Google in no time!

So many computer users don't even understand what a browser is; true example: "What browser do you use? I use Google." When they don't even know what browser they use, they certainly don't know if it's out-dated or not. When websites appear all %$*&#ed up, they assume it's the website, not knowing they're using an over the hill, non-supported browser. Microsoft got the issue out there when it 'killed' XP, but it's still an issue many people are unaware of.

Maybe Google can accomplish what individual web dev's can't — Get the bulk of everyday users to make free updates to their browsers.

When I had Bing installed, it snuck in some crappy, buggy, suspicious, behind-the-scenes software along with it.
Bing Bar is not allowed anywhere near my computers.:o Maybe it's less evil now, but keep an eye on it!

I personally think they can do this a far easier way. When someone goes to their main page, just show an IQ Test. If they cannot break 50, they can recommend returning their computer to the store or donate it to Goodwill. ;)

People are funny!!!

Microsoft tries to force users to do things (browsers, html coding...) and people yell and scream bloody murder.

Google forces users to do things (SSL, browsers upgrades, html coding....) and people flock to them like they are a Messiah or something.

Who made Google the God of the internet? The only thing that Google truly cares about is the almighty dollar (in their pocket, not yours!), nothing else. Period.

Google made Google what it is... Through hard work and corporate takeovers Google has become king. :)

Microsoft was king at one time, and Google overthrew them. Google has been innovative, has developed excellent products, and leveraged Microsoft-hatred to get where they are. They did what Apple could not. Apple chose to remain proprietary which keeps them from gaining ground (although they have a fantastic product). So now, Google is king with near absolute power over the internet. What the king says, you have to do or be relegated to near obscurity.

Unfortunately, while Google has done great things to become king, they are also becoming tyrannical. With one update, they can choose what web sites disappear, and they don't actually tell you what you need to do to "follow the rules" and what they do tell you is hidden in such a deluge of information that those who want and try to learn can't get a handle on how to learn the information let alone find it.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. However despotic or tyrannical Google has become, we must respect its power regardless of the fact that they have done it with hard work and corporate takeovers. Google is king, and we have to choose: conform or become irrelevant. You will be assimilated.

I disagree again! If we shed our desire to be sheep, if enough users take a stand, even Google can be overthrown! Google can dictate all they want. There are other options for search engines. Walk away and Google may get the idea they went to far. Drop Chrome, use Firefox. Drop Google and use Yahoo! If nobody pays attention to Google, if nobody Google's, then how relevant is Google? Someone should remind them that they have a company only because WE let them have it. Because WE use their services. But WE do have other choices. IF we choose to use them . . . ( baa- baa- baaaaa )

Well said Gunsmoke!
