Hey-
Both of those solutions work, so thanks guys.

Seems a little odd that there isn't a way to rename HOME within the application (Hint, hint Mr Scott), but I wasn't on the design team, so I'll just have to work on world peace and whirled peas instead.

Thanks again,

Hey
hope someone can help me with this, I've read thru this post that's now 2yrs old now, but I need to do the exact same thing i.e rename the HOME button (which is no problem) and have it redirect to my website. Ive tried the code (as directed in the Philsophers post) but as I'm new to HTML can't seem to get it right...

Where he says " Put this code on the page you name fred. Replace the url with the page you want them to be taken to " I've tried adding the code replacing my URL but it's not working. I'm guessing Im not adding the URL in the correct place. Could you show me exactly where I add this by putting in say, the coffeecup URL as an example.

I also assume the code has to be added by using the HTML button....

[quote=The Philosopher]Ok, I think I got it.

Try this:

<head><META
HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh"
CONTENT="5; URL=autoforward_target.html">
</head>

Put this code on the page you name fred. Replace the url with the page you want them to be taken to.

Hiya FL,

Are you aware that you can redirect the Home page to any page you want by using the internal settings of the program itself? Go into shop tools settings and on the Pages tab of the tools, very bottom section of that tab you'll see settings to tell it to go Link to: and just type the URL of the page you want it to go to there and that is where it will go when someone hit's the home button on the site when it's uploaded. You can rename the Shop Home to whatever you want it to be, but the Home button will show up on the site only if you do this redirect in the program.

Hi Jo Ann
thanks, but this isnt quite what Im after...
The Shop Home name is fine, which does what it says, and the addition of the 'Home' page with the link included redirects correctly to my external website, however I want to rename the 'Home' name to the name of my external website.
So that the pages will then be called: 'Shop Home, Categories, View Cart, My Website' and the button called My Website will take the user to my site.
Philosopher came up with the re-direction code, but I need to know how to use the code.

thanks for your help....

I see, that's actually a lot more hassle than the built in system though don't you think? If you make your website the Home page, and add a link to your websites menu for your Shop, wouldn't that be a whole lot easier? Make the Home your website, it's actually the more practiced way of doing it and what you're wanting to do is really not what most people would do if that makes sense, it's not the norm in other words. I do see what you're after though, but truly I wouldn't do it that way even if it weren't these programs. You can make them pretty much flawlessly refer to each other very easily by:

1. Making the Home page of the shop system go to your website URL as I mentioned above in the Page settings of the Shop Tools setup.

2. Create a new item on your main website's menu to "My Shop" or whatever you want to name it and have that URL send people to your Shop Home (or whatever you name it to in the program) page.

This is a pretty flawless way of doing it, and the most correct way on top of it. What you're trying to do is kind of bass ackwards hehe, making yourself more work than is necessary.
