Others opinions on payment methods....

I have recently created a shop using shopping cart creator pro. I am very happy with the software and impressed by how easy it is to use. One thing i was not aware of was that when you accept a payment from someone, they are directed to another page to complete the payment process using any of the payment options. A message pops up letting customers know that they are about to be forwarded to their payment service preference.

(Proceed to secure credit card checkout with PayPal
Thank you for shopping with us!
We will now transfer you to the secure payment gateway where you can enter your credit card data.)

Once the window opens I am afraid that this will cause a lot of people to simply close the site and quit the entire order in fear that the payment system has been compromised or just out of laziness. I have seen from experience that there are a lot of frantic clickers out there. For most of us buying things online is a common thing we use PayPal and other payment services daily but for customers who are not familiar with seeing the PayPal screen these pages are not very easy to navigate. PayPal for example has the entire screen dedicated to existing members and leaves a small section for those that do not have an account, in my opinion most people see this and think "i don't want to fill out a form just to buy a t shirt" and immediately click to exit the window. I feel customers almost expect to click proceed to checkout type in their magic numbers and whoosh the products magically appear on their doorstep without having to fill out info on what they may perceive as a different site all together. This is something that i am a bit iffy about and these are just my opinions. I will continue to use and recommend Coffee Cup Software forever so don't get me wrong i am just interested in others opinions mostly to remove my fears of losing sales over this. So fellow Coffee Cup users what is your opinion on this? Is there a simple fix for this, or am i simply worrying over nothing? Let me know.

Thanks,
Chance

Do you have any Analytics confirming your thoughts?:)
If you feel that the users coming to your site will be scared off by being redirected to Paypal then it's your job to fully inform them on your site of how the transactions will take place and what screens will be seen in the process. I would put up screen shots as examples in a page explaining the process so that users that don't understand will have a chance to get up to speed on e-commerce.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I have put a note on my cart page suggesting payment by direct bank transfer, for those who do not like filling out more details

Just save the page, andforward it by email to me after payment. Works for me,

Most people who buy on the internet though seem to understand about being sent to Paypal.

Nope, this is all based on thought i was just trying to see if this worried anyone else or if they have had an experiences where customers have been scared off by this. Seems as if im worrying over nothing though. Ill post a link once i have the site up and running. Im thinking altering the link that sends you over to paypal and making it open in an i frame that pops up in a colorbox. Eric, do you have any experience with colorbox and iframes? Ive used your site to get colorbox working with images but didnt see anything on iframes. Let me know if you do please you've been very helpful many times before.

Thanks,
Chance
