Since October 2010 was one of the first requests for coupons.
I know that this is my third time asking. Short of sending my customers that I want to reward, to a super-secret address for a completely repriced shopping cart for them, Coupons would be way cool.

I do really thank you for delivering good programs not at outrages price.

Thought I might bump this thread up .. see if there has been any updates or workarounds at all yet.

I make one of a kind jewellery and find I lose sales because people dont know what to buy person X, so would really really love to be able to sell gift vouchers etc. Really love using SCCP, but would love it even more when this feature is available.

Hasn't been added yet thirstymeg, but gift vouchers (as long as they are physical items of paper etc.) are easy to do with just using the optional fields of a product. Create a product called Gift Vouchers/Cards (whatever it is you sell) and give it a default product price of say $10.00 and in the optional fields of the product add more increments they can choose from (make sure to put the 'difference' in price for the optional fields). This works perfectly for Gift Vouchers, especially if you print them out yourself.

Sorry, I didn't clarify what i was trying to do very well

It is more trying to work out a way for people to redeem them. I sell at a lot of markets as well as online, and miss out on so many sales at the markets because people can't decide what someone else would like.. whereas if they could buy a voucher and it was easy for the giftee to use it online, then I reckon i would get a lot more sales

Does anyone know how to set up discount codes in Paypal? I'm just wondering if this would be a possible workaround that the buyer could 'apply' when the payment process opens up the paypal screen to action the payment.

Ideally I would like to be able to issue a discount code that offers a percentage off (to send to my buyers to encourage repeat business)
AND
I would like to be able to have people enter a code to get a specific dollar amount off their order?

I know how to apply discount codes to PayPal buttons submits but it won't be tied to your shopping cart.

sorry.. don't actually understand what that means specifically (sorry, newbie at all this stuff.. )

I can provide you with code to make a PayPal button that will accept a discount code but it would be a separate process and not tied to your cart inventory. This means it could be on any page in your website to receive payment.

So, at the moment, I am just really using SCCP and SCDP. At the moment, it doesn't worry me if transactions don't update the cart inventory as I can always do that manually if i need to.

I'll probably need some detailed instructions re how to implement it if possible.

Grab the attached and take a look at the discount.html. If look at the code you will see the values that need to be entered for your product. Make the changes to fit your needs then upload to your server along with the promo.php. If you want to change the codes alter the discount.html and the code where you see it in the promo.php. There's a few comments in the code to help out.
